Position Overview
AAG is looking for a highly motivated Workshop Lead Engineer to work in a fast‑paced and rewarding environment. The successful candidate will manage and develop a dedicated team, oversee maintenance operations, and drive continuous improvement across cost, quality, and safety objectives.
Duties and Responsibilities
* Manage performance through continuous appraisal and annual reviews, including full implementation of AAG’s disciplinary procedures.
* Recruit, select and develop team members, assigning AMTs to teams led by the relevant team leader.
* Schedule all assigned staff in line with project requirements and the Rostering agreement.
* Keep team members informed of all relevant information, such as weekly manager briefs, aircraft status and special information notices.
* Collaborate with the Aircraft Management Team to progress layovers according to the project network plan and priority with other departments.
* Identify and report shortcomings in aircraft progress, coordinating with other Lead Engineers to develop solutions.
* Assist Team Leaders in removing blocks that prevent completion of assigned tasks.
* Ensure a coordinated and professional finish to the project in collaboration with the Manager at the end of the layover.
* Perform certifications and obtain component release approval for relevant shop components.
* Meet all cost centre and project targets set for the team in a timely manner.
* Continuously review and identify systems and procedures that impede performance, leading process improvements.
* Maintain quality, housekeeping, health & safety, and tool care for the assigned team and area in compliance with IQ & MOE, including timely closure of CalQ Risk and addressing Q&S findings, customer feedback, and audits.
* Lead cost centre and ancillary projects as assigned by the Manager.
* Deputise for the Manager and other Lead Engineers when required.
* Work closely with ABMs to ensure good and controlled commercial control and performance on all shop tasks.
Candidate Requirements
* Hold S1/P1 STR in at least one area and the ability to hold S1/P1 STR in an additional area.
* Possess a high level of skill and knowledge in aircraft maintenance.
* Have sound knowledge of key business issues related to aircraft maintenance.
* Be capable of leading and motivating people with strong interpersonal skills.
* Previous experience at Team Leader / Lead Engineer level is advantageous.
* Have in‑depth knowledge of Lean processes, including the PPM process.
* Be able to identify and develop individuals within the team.
* Have effective planning, organisational, and communication skills.
Typical Working Conditions
* Must satisfy and maintain the required medical standard.
* Work performed at the AAG Hangar in Shannon.
* PPE is provided by AAG and mandatory for all work.
* Must satisfy and maintain airport security requirements.
