Excel Healthcare is now looking for a Social Care Worker to work as part of a dedicated team in a Special Care Unit in Portrane, North Dublin. This role will require a dedicated Social Care Worker providing high-quality, trauma-informed care to children and young people requiring intensive therapeutic intervention in a secure residential environment. As a Social Care Worker you will be supporting young people with complex needs to achieve positive personal development, stability, and safety within the care setting. Responsibilities of this Social Care Worker job: Implement therapeutic care plans and behaviour management strategies to help children achieve stability and improved wellbeing. Respond effectively to challenging behaviour, utilizing trauma-informed and evidence-based techniques. Work closely with other professionals (e.g., social workers, psychologists, educational staff) to assess, plan, and deliver personalized care plans. Maintain detailed records of interactions, incidents, and progress, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with Tusla's guidelines and policies. Respond to emergencies and incidents promptly, maintaining a calm, controlled presence in high-stress situations. Use de-escalation techniques to manage conflicts or crises, ensuring the safety and security of all residents and staff. Requirements of this Social Care Worker job: A minimum QQI Level 7 qualification in Social Care, Social Work, Youth Work, or a related discipline. Prior experience in a residential or therapeutic setting, ideally working with children or young people with complex needs. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills; strong resilience and ability to work under pressure.
