About Our Client
Our client is a respected Irish project management and cost consultancy with a strong track record delivering construction and infrastructure projects across Ireland. They provide client-side project management, cost control and advisory services to both public and private sector organisations. For this role, they are supporting Kerry ETB on a significant, multi-site capital development programme across the county, focused primarily on schools and education facilities within the wider public sector.
The Role
They are seeking two Assistant Project Managers to join their client-side team in Tralee. These roles will be embedded within the Kerry ETB environment, supporting the delivery of multiple capital projects (predominantly schools and related public works) from early stages through to handover.
You will be based full-time in the client's offices in Tralee, working closely with a Senior Project Manager and a director-level client representative, while independently managing day-to-day tasks across several live projects. The position suits someone with a solid technical background who wants to build a long-term career in client-side project management within the public sector.
Key Responsibilities
Support the Senior PM in managing a portfolio of construction projects (primarily schools and public works) across multiple sites in Kerry.
Assist with planning, coordination and monitoring of project delivery from design through construction to completion.
Attend and contribute to design team and site meetings, preparing minutes, action lists and progress updates.
Coordinate with consultants, contractors and internal stakeholders to ensure programmes, quality standards and budgets are maintained.
Carry out regular site visits across Kerry ETB projects, monitoring progress, identifying issues and feeding back to the Senior PM and client.
Support the preparation of reports, programmes, risk registers and other project documentation.
Help track project costs, variations and key milestones in line with client requirements and public sector governance.
Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with relevant procedures, Health & Safety and statutory obligations.
Candidate Profile
Circa 3 years' experience in the construction industry in Ireland, ideally in a project management, site engineering or client-side role.
Experience on schools or public works projects is a strong advantage but not essential.
Comfortable handling multiple projects at the same time and working in a busy, mixed professional environment.
Degree in Engineering, Construction Management or a related construction discipline is preferred.
Project Management qualification is an advantage but not mandatory.
Able to work independently, take ownership of tasks and "account for yourself" without constant supervision.
Full-time presence in the client's Tralee office, with the flexibility and ability to travel independently to schools and project sites across Kerry (full driving licence required).
Strong computer literacy, including MS Office and general project-related software.
Clear, professional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the confidence to liaise with senior stakeholders in a public-sector setting.
Contract & Bonus
Initial secondment/appointment for a minimum of 2 years, recently renewed by the client, with a clear option to roll on for up to a further 2 years, which our client fully intends to pursue.
Annual bonus scheme, typically in the 5–10% range, based on a combination of individual and company performance.
If you are an emerging construction professional with around three years' experience who wants to move into client-side project management on meaningful public-sector projects, this Assistant PM position offers a strong platform for long-term development.
