The Cork facility is one of several Snap-on global engineering sites and employs over 90 development professionals. The Vehicle Communication Software (VCS) team consists of 30 people within the Cork facility, operating within a wider team of employees located in the US, China, Australia, Brazil and Mexico.
Position Summary
The successful candidate will leverage their automotive technician expertise to develop high-quality, accurate, and user-friendly diagnostic content for use across Snap-on's suite of advanced scan tools ). This role bridges technical knowledge and product innovation, ensuring that Snap-on's diagnostic solutions meet the needs of professional technicians and service centers.
Essential Qualifications and Skills
* Qualified mechanic with a minimum of 3 years' experience or degree/diploma in electronic or automotive engineering or equivalent
* Experience using vehicle diagnostic equipment including the ability to read/understand diagnostic data and carry out procedures for the repair and maintenance of vehicles
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Excellent organizational skills
Desirables
* Ability to read and interpret vehicle wiring diagrams.
* Familiarity with diagnostic scan tools and automotive software platforms.
* Comfortable with the latest vehicle technologies and diagnostic procedures used within the automotive industry.
* Computer literacy including Word, Excel
Key Tasks / Responsibilities
* Create and maintain comprehensive diagnostic content, including fault code descriptions, data parameters, actuators tests and service procedures.
* Collaborate with engineering and product development teams to integrate accurate automotive data into scan tool platforms.
* Validate diagnostic workflows and ensure compatibility across multiple vehicle makes and models.
* Provide technical insights to enhance user experience and improve diagnostic accuracy.
* Stay current with emerging automotive technologies, systems, and repair practices to keep content relevant and up to date.
* Manage time and project deliverables as assigned.
* Any other duties requested by Manager.
