Job Description:
The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing lean manufacturing strategies to optimize processes, reduce waste, and improve overall efficiency. This role involves working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that products are built to world-class standards.
Main Responsibilities:
1. Develop and implement lean manufacturing strategies to optimize processes and reduce waste.
2. Provide engineering leadership/support for the manufacture of products to world-class standards.
3. Co-ordinate and accelerate the implementation of new engineering changes – both product and process – into the plant.
4. Interface/engage with supply management, production, quality, supply chain and the design engineering team.
5. Be proficient in Design for manufacturing, Rapid prototyping, Process simulation line balancing and project management.
6. Have knowledge in problem-solving techniques using the 9 Step Problem Solving A3 technique to resolve daily Takt and Quality issues.
7. Drive continuous improvement and have a passion for new technologies/automation/process control.
8. Act as a resource, providing timely long-term engineering solutions.
9. Release the hidden talent of manufacturing employees through engagement and delegation of ownership.
10. Knowledge of manufacturing processes (metal fabrication).
11. Evaluate existing processes and workflows to identify areas that would benefit from changes and improvements.
Qualification Guidelines:
* Bachelor's Degree (level 8) Manufacturing Engineering or related field preferred.
* 3-5 years experience in lean manufacturing preferably in a steel manufacturing environment.
* Good knowledge of Lean Manufacturing Practices.
* Some experience as Manufacturing Engineering with emphasis on manufacturing practices.
* Understanding of the design and development of products in compliance with ISO Standards.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office CAD software and ERP systems is a plus.
