What’s this role about?
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Energy Trader to lead our trading activities across multiple markets and drive profitability for our 24/7 energy trading desk. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in energy trading, and a proven track record of success in managing trading activities within the energy sector.
What will I be doing?
* Develop and implement trading strategies: Develop and execute trading strategies to optimize profitability and manage risk in alignment with the company\'s overall goals and market conditions.
* Lead trading activites: Provide leadership and direction to the trading activities for the Irish Market in addition to multiple new markets as we bring first assets live prior to hiring local traders in market.
* Risk Management: Implement robust risk management practices to monitor and mitigate trading risks, including market, credit, and operational risks for markets and assets you are responsible for.
* Market analysis: Stay abreast of market developments, trends, and regulatory changes in the energy sector to inform trading strategies and decision-making.
* Relationship management: Build and maintain relationships with key counterparties, including OTC trading counterparties, partners, customers, brokers, and exchanges, to facilitate trading activities and identify new opportunities.
* Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and internal policies governing trading activities, including reporting requirements and ethical standards.
* Performance Monitoring: Monitor and analyze trading performance, including P&L, trading metrics, and key performance indicators, to assess effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including risk management, finance, operations, sales and legal, to support business objectives and optimize trading activities
What do I need to be a good technical fit for this role?
* Bachelor\'s degree in finance, economics, engineering, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
* 3-5 years’ experience as a senior trader with P&L responsibility
* Proven experience (3-5 years) in energy trading, with a deep understanding of energy markets, products, and trading strategies.
* Excellent analytical and quantitative skills, with the ability to analyze complex data and make informed trading decisions.
* Proficiency in trading platforms and market analysis tools.
* Solid understanding of risk management principles and practices.
* Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and negotiate effectively.
* Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, with a strong focus on results and continuous improvement.
