About the role
Full‑time permanent position across units including Mental Health, Alzheimer’s Care Centre and Nursing. Healthcare Assistants are pivotal members of a caring team whose purpose is to assist people to live to their fullest potential.
Responsibilities
* Provide personal and practical support, including assistance with personal care activities such as bed making, personal laundry, toileting, bathing, eating, drinking and medication administration.
* Actively promote effective communication and interaction with individuals and help individuals develop practical daily living skills.
* Participate in the ongoing assessment and review of individuals’ needs and progress and plan care accordingly.
* Respect and treat information about individuals with confidentiality, ensuring it is stored and retrieved appropriately.
* Work in accordance with all Hospital Policies and Procedures and report immediately any incident of a serious nature.
* Take part in regular supervision meetings and activities to meet agreed learning and development needs.
Qualifications
* Hold a FETAC/QQI Level 5 qualification in Healthcare Support including Care of the Older Person and Care Skills modules.
* Be caring, patient, empathetic and have a strong interest in care of the elderly.
* Experience in a similar working environment is a distinct advantage.
Working Hours
Full‑time Healthcare Assistants work 7 x 12 hour shifts over a 2 week period.
