The role
This is an exciting opportunity that has arisen for an experienced Senior Resident Engineer to play a key role in the delivery of a major bridge construction and rehabilitation project in the Galway/Mayo region. This fixed‑term 12‑month contract, commencing in June 2026, offers the chance to contribute to vital infrastructure that will enhance connectivity, safety, and long‑term sustainability within the region.

Responsibilities
As Senior Resident Engineer, you will lead the site supervision, inspection, monitoring, and administration of construction activities associated with a significant bridge construction and rehabilitation contract. You will work closely with project stakeholders to ensure the highest standards of quality, safety, and compliance are achieved throughout the project life cycle.
This position offers the opportunity to make a tangible impact while working alongside experienced engineering professionals on a technically challenging and rewarding project.
Qualifications
Proven experience in bridge construction, rehabilitation, and maintenance projects.
Relevant post‑graduate experience acting as a Resident Engineer on projects involving masonry, concrete, and steel bridge structures.
A degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
Strong knowledge of construction supervision, quality assurance, and contract administration.
Experience using AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, and other relevant engineering software.
Familiarity with Public Works Contracts would be an advantage.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong record‑keeping, reporting, and stakeholder management abilities.
A thorough understanding of current health and safety legislation and best practices.
A full driving licence and valid SafePass certificate.
