Role Profile

Reporting to the EDI Manager, the EDI Projects Coordinator will work closely with relevant members of the Learning and Organisational Development team to support the planning and delivery of key projects related to equality, diversity and inclusion within DCU. These include gender equality, race equality, and dignity and respect initiatives and activities focused on creating an inclusive, safe and respectful working environment and enhancing our overall employee experience.

Duties and Responsibilities

The duties and responsibilities of the position include, but are not restricted to, the following:

Athena Swan Project

* Support with the coordination of the University’s departmental Athena Swan submissions, offering guidance on best practices and requirements.
* Support the capturing of data required for departmental applications.
* Coordinate the DCU Athena Swan Peer Support Network, including through facilitation of meetings, sharing resources, and coordinating communications amongst network members.
* Support with the ongoing delivery and monitoring and evaluation of the University’s Athena Swan Action Plan 2024 – 2029.
* Stay updated on Advance HE guidelines and sector-wide gender equality initiatives, advising on necessary adjustments to policies or practices.

Race Equality Project

* Support with the development and implementation of a Race Equality Action Plan, in line with the University’s commitment to the HEA Anti Racism Principles.
* Collect and analyse race and ethnicity-related data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
* Support with awareness-raising of our race equality work, including through the development of communications strategies and campaigns.
* Support with the planning and delivery of race equality initiatives and events for staff.
* Carry out administrative duties necessary to support the project.

Dignity, Respect and Ending Sexual Violence Project

* Support with the implementation of our Dignity and Respect at Work and Study Policy and our Sexual Misconduct Policy to foster an inclusive campus culture.
* Assist in coordinating training and awareness campaigns on bullying, harassment, discrimination and sexual violence prevention.
* Contribute to policy reviews and updates to ensure alignment with best practices in fostering a respectful work and study environment.

EDI Policy Development

* Assist in the development, review, and implementation of EDI policies, ensuring alignment with national frameworks and university strategies.
* Support policy consultations with key stakeholders, ensuring inclusive and representative feedback.
* Coordinate the development of guidance documents and toolkits to support policy implementation across departments.
* Ensure EDI policies are effectively communicated to staff and students through training sessions, workshops, and written materials.

EDI Data and Reporting

* Support with the collection of EDI-related data to allow us to understand our staff community in more detail.
* Support in the preparation of internal EDI reports, dashboards, and presentations for university leadership, committees and our staff population.
* Monitor progress against key performance indicators (KPIs) for Athena Swan, Race Equality, and other EDI initiatives.
* Support the university’s external EDI report submissions, including gender pay gap reports and EDI Progress Reports to the HEA.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential

* A degree (NFQ Level 7 or higher) or equivalent in a relevant field such as Equality, Diversity & Inclusion, Human Resources, Social Sciences, or a related discipline.
* A minimum of two years’ experience in project coordination, administration, or a similar role, preferably within an EDI, HR, or higher education environment.
* Demonstrable understanding of Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) principles and their application in workplace policies and initiatives.
* Experience in managing multiple projects, meeting deadlines, and collaborating across diverse teams.

Desirable

* Proficiency in data analysis and reporting, with the ability to use relevant tools such as Excel, Power BI, or equivalent.
* Ability to build strong relationships with key stakeholders, ensuring active engagement and meaningful participation in EDI initiatives.
* Experience working in a higher education institution or a large, complex organisation.
* Familiarity with EDI accreditations and frameworks, such as Athena Swan, the Consent Framework or the Anti-Racism Principles.

* Adaptable: Open to learning new approaches and flexible in responding to the evolving needs of a diverse community.

Essential Training

The postholder will be required to undertake the following essential compliance training: Orientation, Health & Safety, Data Protection (GDPR), Equality, Diversity and Inclusion in Higher Education, and all Cyber Security Awareness Training. Other training may need to be undertaken when required.

Salary Scale: Professional 4 - €43,732 - €64,044.

Appointment will be commensurate with qualifications and experience and in line with current Government pay policy.

Please note this role does not meet criteria for a Critical Skills permit as stipulated by the Department of Enterprise, Trade & Employment.

Remote Working Policy

From the 1st of November 2024, DCU will operate its newly agreed Remote Working Policy. Employees may be approved for up to 2 days of remote working per week (or an appropriate pro rata amount for those part time). Any remote working arrangement will be reflective of the predominant on-campus working environment and the core University value of 'Student Focused'. Employees will be based on campus for the majority of their working week to ensure a sustained on campus engagement and experience. The terms of the remote working policy will apply.
