Health and Safety Specialist


Job Description:

The successful candidate will be responsible for working within the public sector to ensure a safe working environment. They will be expected to identify hazards, assess risks, and communicate health and safety requirements to managers and workers.

* Be familiar with relevant Health and Safety Legislation affecting construction work.
* Identify and assess hazards on site.
* Communicate health and safety requirements to managers and workers.


Required Skills and Qualifications:

Candidates should possess a comprehensive knowledge of hazards associated with construction work and know how to control them. They should also have a comprehensive knowledge of health and safety management systems, including ISO 45001:2018.

* Hold a Level 7 qualification in Occupational Health and Safety (National Framework of Qualifications).
* Have at least 3 years of satisfactory experience in construction work and knowledge of construction methods, site management, and design processes.
* Hold a current Safe Pass Card and valid driving license.


Benefits:

This role may involve assisting in the implementation, management, and upkeep of an Integrated Management System (IMS) accredited to ISO 9001:2015 (Quality) and ISO 45001:2018 (Health and Safety). The IMS coordinator will oversee the maintenance of the Register of Health & Safety Legislation.

* Assist in developing an inspection programme to ensure regular site visits and inspections.
* Conduct risk assessments and report findings as required.
* Maintain the Training Database and control the Project Risk Assessment and Safety Plan Database.


Others:

Other duties may include reporting incidents, accidents, near-misses, and dangerous occurrences according to documented procedures.

Candidates must be computer-literate and have good interpersonal and communication skills. They should be able to work effectively in a team and contribute to monthly Regional Meetings, quarterly Regional Safety Committee Meetings, and bi-annual Safety Management Meetings as required.
