Pre-Construction Lead / Design ManagerSector: Design & Build – Pharmaceutical, Data Centre, and Advanced Manufacturing ProjectsAbout the RoleWe are seeking aPre-Construction Lead / Design Managerto take ownership of thedesign and coordination process throughout the pre-construction phaseof our Design & Build projects.In this key role, you will ensure that design, planning, procurement, and commercial deliverables are completedto the highest standards, on schedule and within budget.You'll lead and coordinate multi-disciplinary teams, identify value-engineering opportunities, manage risk, and ensure all information is in place for a seamless handover to the construction team.Key ResponsibilitiesLead the pre-construction phase of projects, coordinating all internal and external stakeholders.Manage and coordinate design development from Basis of Design through to IFC.Develop and monitor design budgets and programmes, reporting progress and productivity weekly.Oversee procurement schedules, tracking long-lead items and ensuring alignment with the construction programme.Organise and chair design review workshops, ensuring timely closeout of all design comments and RFIs.Ensure all project deliverables meet QA/QC and regulatory standards, including BCaR, DAC, Fire, and Planning requirements.Support tender proposals, providing technical input and risk assessments .Drive lean design and value engineering initiatives to maximise project efficiency.Facilitate a smooth transition from pre-construction to construction handover.Qualifications & ExperienceDegree in Engineering or Architecture (or related discipline).Proven experience in pre-construction, design management, or technical coordination within a Design & Build environment.Strong knowledge of construction methods, planning, and procurement processes .Proficient in BIM tools (Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD).Experience working with pharma, data centre, or cleanroom projects is advantageous.Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
