We are seeking a proactive and commercially astute Factory Purchasing Manager to lead procurement activities at a high-volume food packaging site. The role is responsible for securing a consistent and cost-effective supply of materials — from packaging films and trays to machine spares and raw inputs — ensuring smooth and efficient operations.
Key Responsibilities
Supplier Management: Source, evaluate, and manage supplier relationships, ensuring quality, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
Procurement Cycle: Oversee purchasing from order creation to timely delivery across packaging, labels, MRO parts, and raw materials.
Cost Control: Drive savings initiatives, manage budgets, and maintain optimal stock levels in collaboration with sales, production, and warehouse teams.
Quality Assurance: Work with quality teams to ensure procured goods comply with food safety and packaging standards.
Reporting: Produce data-driven insights on supplier performance, costs, and procurement KPIs.
Inventory Control: Partner with planning and warehouse functions to minimise stockouts and avoid overstocking.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Act as procurement lead across engineering, production, finance, and logistics to align operations.
Market Benchmarking: Liaise with external procurement teams to compare and optimise raw material pricing.
The Ideal Candidate
5–7 years’ progressive procurement/purchasing experience, with 2–3 years in management within a manufacturing/factory environment.
Strong negotiation skills with a track record of managing supplier contracts and relationships.
Experience procuring raw materials, technical spare parts, and packaging.
Skilled in ERP/MRP systems and MS Office.
Excellent organisational and analytical skills with strong attention to detail.
Degree or equivalent qualification in Supply Chain Management, Business, or related field.
