We're looking for an experienced NPD senior technologist to join our dynamic team and play a key role in developing the next generation of Nomadic innovation in this food to go space.
About the Job:
This is a hands-on role where you'll be involved in the full NPD lifecycle, from idea generation and recipe formulation through to scale-up and product launch. Working closely with the Sales & Marketing team, production teams, suppliers, and wider business stakeholders, you'll be responsible for ensuring all new products meet our high standards of quality, safety, and consumer appeal.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and deliver new dairy-based products that are commercially viable (e.g., yoghurts, drinks, and other dairy innovations) in line with Nomadic's business strategy, market & consumer trends.
* Manage projects from concept to launch through the NPD stage-gate process, ensuring timelines and deliverables are met.
* Run trials both in the test kitchen and factory environment
* Apply strong technical knowledge of dairy processes, including fermentation, pasteurisation, and formulation.
* Work closely with suppliers to source and trial ingredients, packaging, and technologies.
* Lead packaging development projects, working closely with packaging suppliers to ensure fit-for-purpose, sustainable, and commercially viable solutions.
* Ensure all products comply with food safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Quality, Production, Marketing, and Commercial.
* Maintain accurate documentation of trials, formulations, and processes, HACCP procedures.
* Continuously monitor competitor activity and market trends to identify innovation opportunities.
* Conduct and support sensory evaluations to assess product performance and consumer appeal.
* Attend customers meetings and presentations as required.
The Ideal Candidate
* Experience: Minimum 4 years' experience in the dairy industry, ideally within NPD, R&D or Technical roles.
* Education: Degree (or equivalent) in Food Science, Dairy Science, or a related field.
* Strong understanding of dairy processes, particularly fermentation, pasteurisation and novel ingredients (cultures).
* Ideally, practical knowledge of dairy processing equipment (e.g., pasteurisers, fermenters, fillers, mixers) and how they impact product quality and scalability
* Passionate about food and the dairy industry, with genuine enthusiasm for creating products that excite consumers.
* Proven project management skills and confidence implementing stage-gate processes.
* Highly organised with excellent time management and the ability to juggle multiple projects.
* Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.
* Confident in leading and running factory trials.
* Experience in supplier management and ingredient sourcing.
* Passionate about food innovation, with a practical, problem-solving mindset.
