We are seeking a talented and highly engaged Storage & Server Engineer to join our IT Infrastructure team. The successful candidate will have in-depth knowledge and hands-on experience with a wide range of enterprise storage and backup technologies, including file system administration and backup solutions.
This role is primarily hands-on, focused on backup and storage administration and engineering across multiple storage platforms. The engineer will work closely with UNIX/Linux and Microsoft engineers, as well as with software development teams and end users across Smartbox.
Experience with cloud technologies and object storage is required.
Principal Responsibilities
:
* Manage and maintain the
Hycu R-Cloud Nutanix–based backup environment
* Protect the integrity of company data by working with technology teams to ensure backup requirements are met
* Design, deliver, and maintain
business continuity and disaster recovery
capabilities for storage systems
* Produce and maintain documentation related to system configuration and usage
* Actively participate in major incidents, ensuring root-cause analysis is completed and lessons learned are applied
* Monitor and measure storage availability, response times, backup windows, and related metrics
* Participate in the evaluation and implementation of new technologies and platform releases
Qualifications & Skills Required:
* Minimum
5 years' experience
working in storage environments
* Experience with
Hycu and/or Veeam backup systems
* Strong
UNIX and Linux
knowledge; some
Windows OS
exposure required
* Experience with
storage capacity planning and reporting
* Strong experience with storage monitoring
* Business Continuity / Disaster Recovery planning experience
* Experience with
NFS and SMB
* Experience with
AWS S3, Wasabi, or other cloud storage platforms
* Exposure to
object storage and software-defined storage technologies
* Experience with
data centre rack & stack
* Highly detail-oriented with strong ownership of work
* Strong team player with a willingness to support others
* Excellent communication skills
* Ability to prioritise effectively and adapt in a fast-paced, evolving environment
