Key Responsibilities
Install, maintain and repair electrical control systems, wiring, lighting and associated equipment across the hatchery.
Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance to minimise operational downtime.
Inspect, test and maintain transformers, circuit breakers, motors, control panels and other electrical equipment.
Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical faults using appropriate testing and diagnostic equipment.
Repair and replace electrical wiring, fixtures and components in line with manufacturer specifications and safety standards.
Undertake corrective and preventative maintenance on electrical systems and circuit breakers.
Develop and maintain a working knowledge of hatchery equipment including incubators, hatchers, climate control systems, ventilation equipment and alarm/monitoring systems.
Support continuous improvement initiatives to maximise equipment reliability and hatchery performance.
Ensure maintenance activities do not compromise egg quality, animal welfare, temperature control or biosecurity standards.
Follow all site biosecurity, health & safety and environmental procedures at all times.
Complete maintenance records, work orders, permits and associated documentation accurately.
Work collaboratively with engineering, production, quality assurance and management teams.
Assist with general maintenance and repair work on process machinery as required.
Participate in a 24‑hour on‑call rota (1 week in every 3) and respond to operational issues when required.
Candidate Qualifications
Recognised electrical qualification (Electrical Trade, Electrical Engineering Technician or equivalent).
Previous experience in electrical maintenance.
Strong fault‑finding and troubleshooting skills with ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and technical manuals.
Experience in industrial, manufacturing, food processing, agricultural or production environments highly desirable.
Knowledge of automated control systems, motors, sensors and PLC‑controlled equipment advantageous.
Experience in highly regulated environments where hygiene, safety and biosecurity are critical beneficial.
Understanding of preventative maintenance systems and CMMS software desirable.
Ability to work independently, prioritise workload effectively and respond to reactive issues under pressure.
Flexible approach with full participation in an on‑call rota.
Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Must reside within a 20‑minute radius of the hatchery (relocation support may be available).
