Specific Purpose Whole Time Post (anticipated duration 12 months) UCC is seeking an experienced Corporate Secretary to lead its governance, legal, compliance and risk functions. This senior role is central to ensuring the University meets the highest standards of accountability, integrity and regulatory compliance. About the Role A member of the University Leadership Team, reporting to the President for executive management responsibilities and to the Governing Authority, through the Chair, in respect of the Secretary function, the Corporate Secretary: Leads and manages the Office of Corporate & Legal Affairs (OCLA). Ensures OCLA delivery of the role of Secretary to the Governing Authority, ensuring excellent governance support, documentation and procedural advice. Oversees university governance including governance relating to university subsidiaries. Leads the University's legal and compliance functions, overseeing the provision of legal advice, regulatory duties, contract administration and statutory obligations including Freedom of Information, Data Protection/GDPR, Copyright, Children First/Child Safeguarding, Protected Disclosures and other public accountability obligations. Provides strategic oversight of the University's enterprise risk management framework, including maintenance of the University Risk Register and promotion of a strong risk management culture, through the relevant function reporting to the Corporate Secretary. Has overall oversight, through the relevant reporting function, of insurance, emergency management, business continuity, and Health & Safety reporting, ensuring that these areas are appropriately governed, aligned and reported within the University's governance framework. Appointment may be made on the Senior Admin II Salary Scale: €145,800 - €184,250 (Scale B) / €138,454 - €177,928 (Scale A). Salary placement on appointment will be in accordance with public sector pay policy.
