Overview:
The EHS Specialist will provide leadership and technical guidance to develop and implement the Environmental, Safety, and Health Management System, ensuring full compliance with legal requirements, client standards, policies, procedures, and industry best practices to maintain sustainable operations.
Requirements
Essential Roles and Responsibilities:
* Serve as the EHS point of contact and owner of local EHS standards, conducting gap assessments and audits aligned with client global standards, especially in Industrial Hygiene, BioSafety, Chemical Management, and Process Safety Management.
* Prepare and submit safety, health, and environmental reports to corporate and regulatory agencies.
* Assist in managing contractor compliance and high-risk work safety procedures.
* Ensure compliance of Pre-Start Up, Safety, Environment Review (PSSER) for new product introductions.
* Support business processes, own EHS KPIs, and streamline event reporting.
* Develop and deliver EHS training strategies for management and staff.
* Manage EHS documentation across various IT platforms such as Power BI, Enablon, Workday, SharePoint, MyLearning, and Meds.
* Maintain records demonstrating compliance with EHS procedures and collaborate with engineering teams.
* Promote a safety culture through collaboration with site colleagues.
* Investigate incidents, implement corrective actions, and support performance reviews for CAPA and NM trending.
* Review processes, facilities, procedures, and change management documents for compliance and develop permitting strategies based on regulatory requirements.
You will need to have:
* Thorough understanding of EHS regulatory requirements.
* Ability to influence senior leaders and adapt to changing situations.
* Skill in managing complex programs balancing strategic and tactical activities.
* Experience in risk management and implementing controls.
* Proven success in enterprise-wide EHS program implementation and change management.
Education:
* Degree in Environmental, Safety Management, or related fields; or a technical bachelor’s with postgraduate EHS qualification.
Experience:
* Minimum 5 years of EHS experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, or chemical industries; other highly regulated industries considered.
* Experience supporting multiple projects and working with regulatory agencies and corporate functions.
* Strong communication skills for presenting information clearly at all organizational levels.
* Leadership skills and responsibility in decision-making regarding EHS issues.
