This role is responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring cost efficiency, compliance, and value delivery across maintenance and equipment categories, covering both Capital Expenditure (Capex) and Operational Expenditure (Opex). The position supports a large, multi-site retail operation and plays a key role in driving commercial value through strategic procurement initiatives.The successful candidate will partner closely with internal stakeholders, suppliers, and external partners to deliver cost optimisation, risk mitigation, and operational excellence. The role requires strong analytical capability, advanced negotiation skills, and the ability to lead complex, cross-regional projects within a fast-paced and evolving environment.Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic SourcingDevelop and implement category sourcing strategies that optimise total cost of ownership while maintaining quality and service standards.Lead end-to-end tendering processes, including preparation, evaluation, negotiation, and contract award, using available procurement tools and systems.Supplier & Contract ManagementBuild, maintain, and strengthen strategic supplier relationships.Negotiate complex, large-scale goods and services contracts.Monitor supplier performance, manage compliance, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.Stakeholder CollaborationPartner with internal stakeholders to understand business needs and align procurement strategies with operational and commercial objectives.Provide both strategic and tactical procurement guidance informed by market insights, industry trends, and best practices.Cost & Value ManagementIdentify, quantify, and deliver cost-saving and value-creation opportunities across the network.Drive procurement synergies through standardisation, consolidation of suppliers, optimisation of distribution points, and challenging existing business models and technologies.Risk ManagementIdentify, assess, and mitigate supply chain risks to ensure continuity, compliance, and resilience.Support the development of benchmarks, performance metrics, and category objectives.Transformation & Global CollaborationWork closely with Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) partners and Centres of Excellence to support global transformation initiatives.Lead the scaling of successful regional procurement programs to multinational or global implementation.Leadership & CommunicationUnite autonomous business units around shared, value-enhancing procurement principles and initiatives.Establish and maintain effective communication with senior leadership, providing clear insights, recommendations, and progress updates.Essential Experience & CapabilitiesProven experience negotiating complex, high-value goods and services contracts.Strong understanding of operational environments and the importance of close collaboration to deliver aligned commercial outcomes.Confident communicator with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.Demonstrated success in delivering procurement synergies and unlocking commercial value through scale, innovation, and standardisation.Experience diagnosing and addressing regional and national-level opportunities, including alternative value or revenue sources.Ability to provide category leadership informed by market dynamics and performance objectives.QualificationsDegree in Business Administration, Procurement, Supply Chain, or a related discipline is preferred.5–10 years' experience in procurement, commercial management, and contract management within relevant categories.Experience in retail or a comparable multi-site environment is advantageous.Proven track record of delivering measurable commercial value.Skills & RequirementsStrong commercial acumen with an operational mindset.Advanced negotiation and analytical skills.Leadership capability with the ability to guide and influence others in line with organisational standards.Strong networking skills with the ability to build effective internal and external partnerships.Ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and complex initiatives simultaneously.Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word; experience with procurement systems such as Ariba or similar is preferred.Self-motivated, resilient, and execution-focused.Flexibility to work non-traditional hours to accommodate global time zones.
