Machine Operator
Lir Chocolates, Navan, County Meath, Ireland
Position type: Temporary, Full-time
Hours:Low Season(December/January - June): 40 hours. High Season(July - November/December): 36 hours
Shift Pattern:Low Season: Monday - Thursday, 06:00 - 16:30.High Season: Friday, Saturday & Sunday, 18:00 - 06:30.
Pay range:Low Season:€15.19 per hour, High Season:€16.41 per hour (8% uplift)
Breaks:30 minutes paid & 30 minutes unpaid
Responsibilities
* Adhere to all departmental procedures, health & safety, hygiene, and food safety standards.
* Plan and prepare for daily production, including staffing, materials, line setup, and specifications.
* Operate machinery efficiently, including start-ups and changeovers, following SOPs.
* Monitor and maintain product quality.
* Achieve daily production targets.
* Analyse performance, downtime, and rejects; identify and report root causes.
* Organise and lead the team daily, ensuring effective communication and task delegation.
* Train and support new operators; coordinate ongoing training needs.
* Complete all required paperwork accurately and on time, including labour capture and daily reports.
* Maintain audit-ready work areas and ensure housekeeping standards are met.
* Report engineering issues promptly and document them using work requests.
* Participate in improvement projects and support continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
* Good mechanical aptitude.
* Previous machinery experience.
* Ability to work on own initiative.
* Ability to work effectively with others.
* Proactive and organised.
* Competent with numbers and basic calculations.
