DESCRIPTION
Reporting to the Cost Accounting Manager the Senior Cost Accountant will oversee aspects of the global Inventory Accounting department, reviewing the work of staff and ensuring the inventory cost accounting activities are performed accurately and in compliance with company policies and regulations. Accounting managers should have strong written and verbal communication skills, be able to multitask, work under pressure, and meet defined deadlines.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Assist in ensuring financial statement integrity and operational excellence in the closing and financial reporting process to provide timely and accurate information to internal and external stakeholders
* Work collaboratively with the Global Supply Chain, Accounts Payable and FP&A to ensure accurate reporting and recording of inventory-related expenses
* Support the company's month end close process, including preparation of journal entries, as well as monthly account reconciliations
* Assist in the calculation and assessment of inventory item standard costs
* Perform analysis of cost accounting impacts, including analysis of revaluations and purchase price variances
* Perform analysis over the monthly BOM/assembly activity to ensure accuracy with defined recipes and cost expectations
* Monitor inventory accounting and related system reports for accuracy and completeness
* Assist with special projects as assigned, including the implementation and integration of financial applications
* Assist in coordinating with external auditors to ensure timely completion of the annual audit
* Perform periodic physical inventory counts at 3rd party copacker and warehouse locations
REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:
* 4-year degree in Accounting/Finance
* Public accounting experience preferred
* Public accounting or industry experience with a CPG or manufacturing company preferred
* Minimum 3+ years of cost accounting experience (preferably in a SOX environment)
* Proficient in English
* Strong sense of ownership and curiosity to take on new challenges
* Track record of driving improvements, process documentation and thriving in fast-paced, complex environments
* Proactive, commercially minded, and keen to make a real impact on growing business.
* Confident working independently and leading initiatives
* Intelligence reporting – Power BI, Process Automation, Design Optimization, desired.
