We are seeking an experienced, enthusiastic and professional Senior Social Worker to join our team at Bloomfield Hospital.
This is a great opportunity for an experienced Senior Social Worker to be an active part of a committed multidisciplinary team and to make a significant contribution in the area of mental health.
Work Location: Bloomfield Hospital, Stocking Lane, Rathfarnham Dublin 16, Ireland Contract Type: Permanent, Full-Time, onsite Hours of work: 37 hours weekly/ 74 hours fortnightly.
About Bloomfield Hospital: Bloomfield Hospital provides a spectrum of neuropsychiatric services to adults with a range of severe and enduring mental health needs such as Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, and Huntington's Diseases, as well as individuals with early onset dementias, schizophrenia and mood disorders.
We are the only facility in Ireland that provides a high level of specialized care for people with Huntington's disease.
In Bloomfield Hospital there is a focus on creating a therapeutic environment by using recovery-oriented clinical practices and therapeutic interventions, which are evidence-based to enable and support patients to achieve their highest level of functioning and quality of life.
This care is delivered through a Multi-disciplinary Team including colleagues in Psychiatry, Psychology, Nursing, Pharmacy, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Speech and Language, Dietetics, Physiotherapy, and General Practice.
Bloomfield Hospital is a 131-bed in-patient mental health service, registered as an approved centre with the Mental Health Commission.

Responsibilities: The Senior Social Worker will support the Specialised Mental Health Rehabilitation Programme and provide supports for residents.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Social Worker to play an integral and active role in a committed Multidisciplinary Team to make a significant contribution in the area of social work.
The Senior Social Worker will work with residents with severe and enduring mental illness and complex needs who have had prolonged episodes of severe and enduring mental illness to recover and to regain the skills and confidence required to live an independent life.
The post of Senior Social Worker involves assessing the psycho-social needs of patients in the context of their family and social environment.
An important focus of this work involves addressing relevant issues and exploring options to enhance personal and family growth.
Therapy is provided through individual, couple, family and group sessions.
An inherent tenet is the recognition of the rights and dignity of every individual.
This work takes place within the context of a multidisciplinary team.
This position offers the opportunity to provide social work services within the context of psychiatry of later life, general adult psychiatry and rehabilitation psychiatry.
Family involvement is an integral part of the centre services.
As Senior Social Worker, s/he will have overall responsibility: To provide a contemporary Social Work service within Bloomfield Hospital.
To contribute to strategic and operational change programmes.
Be an active member of the Clinical Governance Committee and to assist in the development and implementation of strategic and operational plans for Bloomfield Hospital.
Ensure that the highest standard of clinical care in Social Work is planned, delivered and evaluated and that all targets and objectives are met in line with national and local standards.
Provide Social Worker services within a legally compliant framework.
Provide efficient, effective and economic Social Work services for all patients and residents of Bloomfield Hospital within a defined budgetary framework.
Foster the continued development of research at Bloomfield Hospital as appropriate.
Provision of teaching, research and academic support at a senior level as developed at associated educational facilities, e.g. Trinity College Dublin.
As Senior Social Worker s/he will be required to contribute strategically on issues pertaining to the Management of Bloomfield Hospital's services while being mindful of the History, Mission, and ethos of Bloomfield Hospital.
Provide a professional social work service to the attending patient population, family and relevant others in Rehabilitation services.
Assess, plan, implement and evaluate social work programmes for residents according to professional standards and keep abreast of developments in the field.
Manage patient care to ensure the highest professional standards using an evidence-based, care planning approach.
Collaborate with resident, family, carers and other staff in goal setting and support/intervention planning.
Participate in the multi-disciplinary/healthcare team and work in co-operation and collaboration with team members.
Maintain comprehensive clinical records of assessments, interventions carried out, communications relating to residents.
Manage, participate and play a key role in the practice education of student social workers and promote and engage in the teaching/training/support of others as appropriate.
Person Specification Be registered on the Social Worker Register maintained by the Social Work Registration Board at CORU.
Hold a degree in Social Work or an equivalent qualification and be eligible for membership with the Irish Association of Social Workers.
Have five years full time (or an aggregate of five years) post qualification clinical experience.
Have established clinical experience in working with individuals with severe and enduring mental health conditions in the area of mental health rehabilitation.
Have significant experience in homeless services and forensic mental health services.
Energetic individual with solid clinical experience in working with a team of diverse clinicians and strong knowledge of the concepts and operation of Clinical Governance.
Strong ability to teach, manage, participate and play a key role in the practice education of student social workers and promote and engage in the teaching/training/support of others as appropriate.
Have a good knowledge and experience of health, safety and other statutory regulations affecting a healthcare organisation.
