About The Role
The successful candidate will support the Grid & Electrical Team in managing all Electrical Engineering matters involved in the delivery of a wide range of large‑scale renewable projects including wind, solar and battery storage. The role will cover all project stages from development, tendering, construction and commissioning to handover to the Energia Operations Team. Projects involve many different electrical contractors, OEMs, external consultants, ESBN, EirGrid, NIE & SONI at various voltages from LV up to 220 kV.
Applicants should have a minimum of 5 years experience within the Electrical Engineering discipline. Experience in substation design, contestable grid connections and delivery of renewable projects would be advantageous.
Responsibilities
* Support the Asset Development Team with electrical aspects/evaluations of early‑stage development projects, including due diligence on potential projects, determining possible grid connection configurations, and input to cost estimates.
* Support the Grid & Electrical Team in all aspects of project delivery and contract management to ensure that the electrical element of projects—including contestable grid infrastructure—are delivered on time, within budget and to the expected quality standard.
* Interface and manage contractors and utility companies to ensure successful delivery of contestable assets.
* Complete electrical design reviews to identify design gaps, deviations, or contradictions in specifications.
* Review the Employer’s Requirements for individual projects and assist with preparation of the same for tendering and contract purposes.
* Ensure that technical assessments are completed as required and technical issues are resolved without delay to maintain the project programme.
* Monitor submittals through the approvals process, track procurement and delivery of key long‑lead items.
* Attend site monthly meetings to ensure that progress of electrical works is monitored & maintained within the overall construction programme.
* Quality manage the project construction phase, including site attendance to inspect & supervise key works to ensure the expected quality is delivered.
* Witness site acceptance tests for all major electrical plant and attend factory acceptance tests where required.
* Update and record project progress on system trackers which are fully aligned with the construction schedule.
* Review and answer technical queries from site during the construction and commissioning phases in relation to specifications, drawings, materials and equipment.
* Work as an integral part of the commissioning process and review commissioning requirements where required.
* Interface with EirGrid, ESBN, NIE & SONI with respect to initial dispatch tests on renewable projects during the commissioning phase and until maximum export capacity is achieved.
Key Criteria
* Proven experience (5 years min) in the design and construction of high‑voltage / medium‑voltage substations.
* Experience in utility grid contestable design & delivery.
* Experience in the delivery of HV/MV electrical infrastructure projects.
* Qualification in Electrical Engineering.
* Full driving licence.
Desirable Criteria
* Electrical trade / electrical contractor background.
* Proven experience in design and construction of renewable project electrical works packages.
* Utility scale renewable generation projects.
* Experience with AutoCAD.
