Due to continued growth, we are seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to join our multidisciplinary engineering team.
The Role
As an Electrical Design Engineer at Noreside Engineering, you will play a key role in the design and development of electrical systems for bespoke automation projects. You will be responsible for producing detailed electrical designs for control panels, while also contributing to concept design, technical proposals, and front-end engineering activities.
This role offers exposure across the full project lifecycle and the opportunity to work on technically challenging projects in regulated manufacturing environments.
Key Responsibilities
Electrical Design & Documentation
* Produce detailed electrical schematics and panel designs for industrial control systems
* Develop wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and cable schedules
* Select and specify electrical components in line with project requirements and standards
* Generate electrical documentation packs suitable for manufacture, installation, and validation
Concept Design & Proposals
* Support early-stage concept development for bespoke automation solutions
* Contribute to technical proposals, including design approaches, system architectures, and estimates
* Collaborate with automation, mechanical, and process engineers to develop integrated solutions
Standards & Compliance
* Design systems in accordance with relevant standards (e.g. IEC, EN, UL as applicable)
* Ensure designs meet industry-specific requirements for pharma, medical device, and food & beverage environments
* Support design reviews, risk assessments, and change control processes
Project Support
* Provide technical support during panel build, FAT, installation, and commissioning phases
* Liaise with panel builders, suppliers, and internal teams
* Assist with troubleshooting and design updates as required
Required Skills & Experience
* Degree or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
* Proven experience in electrical design for industrial automation or machinery
* Experience designing control panels (PLC, drives, instrumentation, safety circuits)
* Proficiency with electrical CAD tools (e.g. EPLAN, AutoCAD Electrical, or similar)
* Strong understanding of industrial electrical standards and best practices
* Ability to work on multiple projects and manage competing priorities
Desirable Experience
* Experience in pharmaceutical, medical device, or food & beverage industries
* Knowledge of functional safety (e.g. SIL, PL)
* Familiarity with PLC and automation platforms (e.g. Siemens, Rockwell, Beckhoff)
* Exposure to validation, GAMP, or regulated project environments
* Experience supporting proposals or front-end engineering design (FEED) activities
