As an Equipment Technician here in Cork you will plan, conduct and provide direction on all quality engineering activities. You will be part of the Engineering team at Alcon to support the Manufacturing site. The ideal candidate must be proficient with installation, maintenance and repair of process equipment.
You will be responsible for the continuous technical, operational support and repair of process equipment in an eye care products manufacturing environment.
Daily role of the Equipment Technician
Execute all aspects of equipment procurement, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and repair activities on manufacturing process equipment used in the manufacture of eye care products at Alcon Ireland and working within defined Equipment, Maintenance and Change Control standard operating procedures.
Assist Process Engineering by implementing change to drive process improvements, reduce scrap and ensure excellence across all product lines and assist in the execution of Change Control activities.
Daily reporting into Engineering Manager on all activities and highlighting issues early that could affect product lines.
Upkeep of Equipment literature files, Work Orders & the Preventative Maintenance database.
Monitor & update OEE downtime tracking system and equipment process logs.
Completion of non-conforming investigations (NCIs), CAPAs & DCTs in addition to assisting with Internal/External audits.
What you’ll bring to Alcon
Minimum 3 years experience in a similar role.
Familiar with SQL to generate queries and analyse data results.
Familiar with and having PLC experience (Allen Bradley).
Familiar with PC building and repairs.
Technical competence in operating Packaging Equipment.
Knowledge of ISO, FDA, GMP standards.
Ability to utilize problem solving techniques.

A minimum level 6 qualification in an Engineering or Technical discipline.
A minimum 2+ years of experience in a technical role.Experience with equipment and utilities from new equipment coming onsite to troubleshooting existing equipment.
Problem solving mentality.
