Job Description:
Camphill Communities of Ireland (CCoI) are recruiting for a Relief Social Care Assistant. This role offers an exciting opportunity for someone seeking a new challenge.
Purpose of Post
The post holder will actively ensure that the service's daily operations reflect the ethos and vision of CCoI, meeting the needs of supported individuals. Working within a support team, the role involves working with individuals to discover what constitutes a good life for them and identifying necessary supports. Flexibility in timing and location is essential, as supports are tailored to individual plans.
The appointee should demonstrate proactive teamwork and contribute to effective team development.
Duties & Responsibilities
The Social Care Assistant shall be responsible for:
Advocacy & Rights
* Respect each person as an equal citizen.
* Uphold and respect human, legal, and constitutional rights, empowering personal autonomy.
* Facilitate and develop decision-making and self-advocacy skills.
* Encourage hobbies, interests, and social skills.
* Support community participation using generic facilities.
Person Centred Support for Living
* Ensure a person-centred approach to service delivery.
* Support individuals with activities, communication, behaviour support, independent living skills, social integration, personal care, and development plans.
* Assist in fostering self-care skills, personal hygiene, health, and appearance.
* Support physical needs, including mobility, personal care, and health appointments.
* Promote healthy diets and individual choices.
* Maintain a safe and supportive home environment.
* Implement and participate in person-centred plans and reviews.
* Obtain competency in transport duties, including driving.
* Participate in outings and support emotional well-being.
Management and Leadership
* Ensure the well-being of individuals supported.
* Maintain equipment and report faults.
* Contribute to team support and adhere to policies and procedures.
* Keep accurate records and reports.
* Report concerns promptly and manage incidents effectively.
* Utilize transport services efficiently.
Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience
* Minimum QQI Level 5 Major Award or equivalent in Social Care.
* At least 1 year experience with vulnerable adults or those with intellectual disabilities.
* Understanding of current policy and sector developments.
* Ability to follow care plans and communicate effectively.
* Proficient IT skills, including Microsoft Office and SharePoint.
* Full driver's license and own car are required.

Role Details
Salary: €30,272 - €37,483 per annum (pro-rata for 40 hours/week)
Contract: Relief, fixed term for one year
