KNOW THE ROLE
Working within our Beauty Category, you will assist the Senior Buyer in sourcing products, negotiating with suppliers to secure the best terms, and building strong relationships with key stakeholders. Using insights and trend research, you will help determine which brands perform well and recommend future ranges. This is a full-time, maternity leave contract position.
Responsibilities include:
1. Assisting with budget and margin targets, range planning, and day-to-day operations in the Beauty Division.
2. Setting mark-up targets, markdown rates, and selling prices to achieve gross margin goals.
3. Preparing weekly trade updates, analyzing sales data, and recommending actions.
4. Pre-season planning, including pulling wash-up notes, research, and building OTB sheets.
5. Planning buying trips and appointments, ensuring preparation and relevant data collection.
6. Attending trade shows and supplier meetings, recording actions, and following up.
7. Summarizing market trends from appointments.
8. Building storyboards, seasonal calendars, and presentations to communicate trends and product details.
9. Managing debit notes and supporting supplier support activities.
10. Coordinating with the Buyers Assistant to ensure product availability and smooth critical path execution.
11. Monitoring market activity, sales, and trends.
12. Collaborating with Marketing and Online teams to develop marketing strategies and online ranges.
13. Supporting the wider buying team with seasonal product presentations.
14. Maintaining product data in the merchandise management system.
15. Working with Finance to manage supplier setups.
16. Taking responsibility for own category, including range building, assortment planning, negotiations, and stock management.
17. Supporting stock replenishment to optimize stock levels.
18. Developing and mentoring buying assistants within the division.
KNOW WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
* 3-4 years’ experience in a fast-paced buying office.
* Strong commercial acumen and relationship management skills.
* Proficiency in Excel.
* Influencing skills.
