Role Overview
The Regulation Decision Intelligence Analyst will support evidence-based regulatory decision-making through the analysis, visualisation, and interpretation of data.
The post-holder will be responsible for developing insights and interactive tools that inform regulatory policy, identify emerging risks, improve operational effectiveness, business intelligence analysis, GDPR compliance, and financial data for practising certificates.
One key element of this role will involve leveraging data science methods and emerging AI tools, including predictive analytics, to support and enable proactive risk-based supervision, regulatory innovation, and service improvement.
In addition the post-holder will identify and deliver micro-automations of repetitive manual tasks, using low-code tools such as Power Automate, Power BI, CoPilot, with RPA where appropriate.
This is a new post designed to enhance business intelligence capability within the Regulation Department, introduce efficiencies through automation, and support a data-informed regulatory culture.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and maintain interactive dashboards, reports, and visualisations to support regulatory oversight, risk monitoring, and performance tracking.
Analyse complex datasets related to regulatory data.
Apply data modelling techniques, including predictive analytics and exploratory data mining, to identify potential regulatory risks or emerging issues.
Explore the use of AI tools and automation with IT teams to support regulatory workflows and data-driven interventions.
Identify, prioritise and deliver micro-automations of routine workflows using Power Automate and related low-code tools, applying RPA where appropriate.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders to align data outputs with organisational goals.
Identify opportunities to streamline data collection processes, improve data quality, and promote consistency across systems.
Contribute data insights to briefings, policy papers, governance reports, and external communications.
Support the definition and monitoring of KPIs and benchmarks across regulatory activity.
Monitor developments in data analytics, AI, and digital regulation relevant to the legal and regulatory environment.
Work with internal teams such as IT to align requirements, iterate solutions, and resolve issues, including matters related to System 360.
Preparation of statistics and reports for Practice Regulation matters.
Drafting, implementing and maintaining data sharing agreements with external parties.
Develop, implement and maintain data, record and document management systems for the Regulation Department with the IT team.
Develop, implement and maintain a data retention policy.
Conduct regular data audits to identify and rectify issues.
Manage and coordinate data access requests for the Regulation Department.
Ensuring GDPR compliance by the Department.
Liaise with Regulatory Communications and Engagement Executive on GDPR matters.
Any other work as assigned by the Head of Practice Regulation.
Essential skills and experience
Degree in data analytics, data science, statistics, computer science, economics, or a related discipline.
1-3 years in a data analysis, data science, business intelligence, or analytics-focused role.
Proficiency in data visualisation tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) and strong Excel skills.
Experience with low code automation tools such as Power Automate.
Experience with CoPilot.
Basic SQL for data extraction/wrangling, understanding of data cleaning and transformation.
Experience with project management.
Experience applying analytical techniques to large or complex datasets.
Strong communication skills, including the ability to present technical findings to non-specialist audiences.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and manage competing priorities.
Desirable qualifications and attributes
Experience in a regulatory, legal, or professional services context.
Familiarity with Python, or R for data analysis or automation.
Familiarity with predictive modelling or machine learning frameworks.
Understanding of AI governance, ethical use of AI, and GDPR compliance.
Interest in digital transformation and AI trends in professional regulation.
This is a Full-time, 2 year fixed term contract.
