Clinical Specialist Occupational Therapist - Adult Disability
Permanent Contract - 35 hours per week
Location: Kilcullen, Co. Kildare
Clinical Specialist OT Scale: €71,405 to €82,860
The Clinical Specialist Occupational Therapist will provide advanced clinical expertise, leadership, and strategic direction in the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based occupational therapy services to adults with complex disabilities. The role focuses on enhancing independence, promoting meaningful occupation, and supporting community integration for individuals with disabilities.
Responsibilities
Manage a highly complex caseload, conducting advanced functional, cognitive, sensory, and environmental assessments
Act as an advanced clinical advisor to OTs and other members of the MDT
Act as the clinical expert resource for occupational therapy within the service
Promote changes in work practices, procedures, techniques or technology having regard to the development of best practice and advanced practice in Occupational Therapy.
Participate in and lead service audits, evaluation, and outcome measurement initiatives
Develop clinical pathways and protocols specific to adult disability OT services
Lead and participate in Occupational Therapy Department in-service trainings and team meetings.
Develop and promote quality standards of work and cooperate with quality assurance programmes.
Essential Requirements
Qualification in Occupational Therapy recognised by CORU
Registration with CORU as an Occupational Therapist
Minimum of 5 years post-qualification experience, including significant experience in adult disability services
Demonstrated experience managing complex clinical cases
Evidence of continuing professional development and advanced clinical training
Be eligible to work in Ireland without sponsorship
Full Clean Licence and access to own vehicle is essential
Desirable Requirements
Experience in service development, audit, and quality improvement
Postgraduate training relevant to adult disability (e.g., sensory integration, assistive technology, postural management)
Leadership or supervisory experience
