Strategy & Transactions (SaT) – M&A Advisory – Manager

Location: Ireland / Dublin / Cork / Limerick / Galway

Contract Type: Full-Time – Permanent

We work with sector specialists and a Debt Advisory team to support clients across industries. EY Corporate Finance is the fastest growing team on the island of Ireland, led by senior Partners and a breadth of technically strong professionals. We are seeking Managers, Associate Directors and Directors with M&A Advisory experience across our Irish offices.

About SaT (Strategy And Transactions) – By helping organisations evaluate and navigate transactions, maximise opportunities and minimise risks, you will help clients manage and execute high-profile transactions. You will bring analytical skills and real‑world experience to diverse situations, understanding client objectives and how transactions influence success, assessing risks and balancing them against potential rewards.

As an SaT M&A Manager you will work with a high-performing, integrated team delivering general corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions and strategic advice. You will have a diverse range of experiences and opportunities for learning and development. This growing team focuses on strong relationships to help you and clients reach their potential. The Corporate Finance team seeks to recruit Managers, Associate Directors and Directors who can build on their current transaction experience on diverse and demanding engagements. The work requires adaptability, flexibility and innovation.


Your Key Responsibilities

* Ability to work in a dynamic team environment
* Understand the financial implications of transactions
* Source and use information creatively; make sensible assumptions where appropriate
* Absorb new technical information quickly and develop a deep understanding of the strategic rationale for transactions
* Work with clients to take proposals to market, identify target buyers/funders/partners, present opportunities effectively, negotiate and structure transactions with other professionals to a successful completion
* Review and prepare complex reports and presentations for clients
* Have strong knowledge of the market and identify business development opportunities

Role Requirements

* Manage sell-side mandates through optimal positioning of assets, identifying target bidders, preparing Information Memoranda and negotiating commercial terms
* Manage buy-side mandates, identify targets and structure and negotiate successful transactions
* Support clients with a diverse range of strategic mandates relating to M&A
* Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, investors and stakeholders
* Supervise and mentor junior team members; foster professional development
* Ensure high-quality client deliverables with strong attention to detail
* Seek feedback and drive own development
* Demonstrate strong numerical and financial skills and understanding of financial statements
* Prior experience and strong knowledge of the Corporate Finance landscape


Your Duties And Responsibilities

* Originate, lead and manage M&A transactions end-to-end (including financial analysis, valuation, due diligence and negotiations) under Directors or Partners within SaT M&A Advisory in Ireland and internationally
* Collaborate effectively as a team member, sharing responsibility and maintaining communication with senior members
* Understand client requirements, co-develop approach, provide value through insights and advice
* Gather, verify and analyse information to formulate views
* Plan, prepare and review deliverables including information memoranda, reports and presentations
* Identify and escalate risks to more senior staff as appropriate
* Support deal origination and sector insight initiatives by analysing business development opportunities
* Ensure work is executed in compliance with Quality & Risk Management guidelines
* Establish and strengthen internal and external relationships
* Mentor junior staff and contribute to a positive learning culture
* Maintain and upgrade technical knowledge and personal skills


Technical Skill Requirements

* Experience and deep technical knowledge of the Corporate Finance landscape with emphasis on M&A Lead Advisory; track record of end-to-end transactions
* Effective stakeholder communication; high commercial acumen
* Proficient in detailed financial and commercial analysis; identify sensitivities
* Ability to identify key issues and propose workable solutions
* Experience presenting findings in client-facing reports and deliverables


Additional Requirements

* Relevant analytical or financial qualifications
* Strong commercial experience or relevant industry experience
* Analytical with strong commercial acumen
* Excellent oral and written communication
* Advanced IT skills in Excel, Word and PowerPoint
* Project management, time management and ability to work under pressure
* Team player with ability to work independently when required
