Job Title: RGI Certified Gas Engineer (Non-Domestic) Location: Rathcoole Reports to: Service Manager / Technical Director Job Summary: The RGI Certified Gas Engineer (Non-Domestic) is responsible for the installation, commissioning, servicing, and maintenance of commercial and industrial gas systems in compliance with Irish gas safety standards and Gas Networks Ireland (GNI) regulations.
The engineer must hold valid RGI certification for Non-Domestic Gas work under the Safe Energy Ireland (formerly RGII) registration scheme.
Key Responsibilities: Install, commission, and service non-domestic gas appliances (e.g. boilers, heaters, catering equipment, CHP units).
Carry out safety checks, testing, and fault diagnosis on gas installations and associated systems.
Ensure compliance with Irish Standard IS 820 and GNI codes of practice.
Complete all relevant certification and documentation (e.g., Non-Domestic Gas Safety Certificates, service records).
Conduct planned preventive maintenance (PPM) and emergency call-outs as required.
Work to company health and safety policies and ensure compliance with Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act ****.
Liaise with clients, contractors, and site managers to ensure works are completed efficiently and to standard.
Identify and report non-compliances or potential hazards in existing installations.
Maintain tools, equipment, and company vehicle in a clean and serviceable condition.
Qualifications and Experience: Registered Gas Installer (RGI) certification – Non-Domestic category (through Safe Energy Ireland / RGII).
FETAC/QQI Level 6 or equivalent qualification in Gas Installation, Mechanical Engineering, or Building Services.
Minimum 3 years' experience in commercial or industrial gas systems.
Valid Safe Pass and Manual Handling certification.
Full, clean Irish or EU driving licence.
Strong understanding of IS 820:****, Building Regulations Part J, and relevant GNI procedures.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
Desirable: Certification in Oil (OFTEC), Heating Controls, or Renewables (e.g., heat pumps, solar thermal).
Experience with BEMS/BMS systems.
Familiarity with HVAC and mechanical plant systems in commercial settings.
