Environmental Specialist (Hybrid)
Excel Recruitment is delighted to partner with a leading renewable energy provider to recruit an experienced Environmental Specialist for their team. Based in Kildare, this is a fantastic opportunity to join one of Ireland’s most respected and future-focused energy companies, supporting a broad pipeline of renewable infrastructure projects nationwide.
Responsibilities for Environmental Specialist (Hybrid)
* Take ownership of the full EIA process, delivering high-quality Environmental Impact Assessment Reports and AA/NIS for large-scale renewable developments.
* Offer expert environmental planning advice, ensuring all projects align with current legislation and policy.
* Monitor developments in environmental law and planning policy at both local and national levels.
* Drive stakeholder engagement, working closely with local communities and statutory/non-statutory bodies.
* Develop technical briefs for external consultants and support procurement activities.
* Promote a strong culture of environmental, health and safety best practices across all workstreams.
* Provide mentorship to junior colleagues and contribute to the team’s ongoing professional growth.
* Collaborate cross-functionally with Planning, Engineering and Leadership teams to meet strategic targets.
Requirements for Environmental Specialist (Hybrid)
* Honours Degree (Level 8) in Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field (essential).
* At least 5 years’ experience delivering EIARs and Appropriate Assessments on major infrastructure projects.
* Solid knowledge of Irish planning legislation and environmental compliance standards.
* Proven experience leading multidisciplinary teams through the EIA process.
* Background in renewable energy, SID projects, or environmental consultancy is highly advantageous.
* A postgraduate qualification or specialism (e.g. ecology, air quality) is a plus, though not required.
* Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and project delivery skills.
