Job Title Programme Executive - Decarbonised Heat (Bioenergy Salary €52,026 pa (Other arrangements may apply if you are currently a serving civil or public servant) Tenure 5-year fixed term contract Work Location Dublin, Dundalk, Cork, or Sligo Closing Date Midnight, Monday 12th January **** Role Profile We have an exciting opportunity within the Decarbonised Heat Research Team; part of the Decarbonised Heat Systems Support Department at SEAI.
This Department focuses on advancing renewable energy integration, fostering Ireland's transition to a net-zero energy system by ****, with this position placing particular emphasis on bioenergy as a key pathway for fossil fuel substitution.
Reporting to the Senior Engineer Specialist within Decarbonised Heat Research Team the successful candidate will join a dynamic team committed to delivering high-quality research, primarily supporting the integration of sustainable bioenergy solutions such as biomass, biogas, and future renewable fuels into Ireland's heating systems, while offering flexibility to contribute to broader decarbonised heat initiatives.
This role will require ad-hoc travel to attend national events.
Essential Requirements The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate: A degree (minimum NFQ Level 7 or higher), in Environmental Science, Engineering, Energy Systems, Bioenergy, Renewable Energy, or a related discipline.
Minimum three years' directly relevant experience working in renewable energy, sustainability, or heat decarbonisation (post-graduate studies may be included).
Demonstrated experience conducting technical analysis and evaluation of energy technologies and systems.
Demonstrated experience delivering technical reports, analysis, visualisations (e.g. graphs, charts), executive summaries and methodologies.
Experience coordinating projects, managing deliverables, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
Excellent communication skills and experience communicating complex information to diverse audiences.

Desirable Requirements Hands-on or critical review experience conducting technical and economic analysis of energy systems technical and economic analysis of energy systems, including feasibility assessments, cost-benefit analysis, and Life Cycle Assessments (LCAs) for emissions and costs, with the ability to produce evidence-based recommendations.
Advanced experience in LCAs for bioenergy or other renewable energy projects is desirable.
Experience managing multidisciplinary projects, including, for example, certification of sustainable biomass uses under EU sustainability bioenergy schemes (e.g. ISCC, SPB, SURE) or feasibility analysis of renewable energy and energy efficiency systems.
Familiarity with EU and national directives on bioenergy, decarbonisation, and energy efficiency, including integration with district heating or heat pumps.
Ability to perform data analysis, modelling tools, or techno-economic evaluations for energy systems (including bioenergy and other renewable heat technologies), with the ability to develop renewable energy business cases.
Experience collaborating with government, industry, or community stakeholders in bioenergy or renewable energy sectors.
Experience contributing to policy development or strategic planning in renewable energy or decarbonisation (including energy efficiency).
Familiarity with emerging bioenergy technologies such as advanced renewable fuels, bioliquids, waste-to-energy, or hybrid renewable systems in hard-to-decarbonise sectors (e.g. industry, agriculture).
Experience or knowledge of delivering positive customer experiences.
Experience working across multiple renewable heat technologies (e.g., bioenergy, heat pumps, district heating), and evidence of adaptability to changing priorities in a dynamic work environment.
Eligibility to Work The SEAI has a legal obligation to ensure that all employees are lawfully entitled to work in Ireland.
To qualify, candidates must hold a valid visa on the date of application and where applicable to support a candidate's application, candidates must submit a valid work permit/visa confirming permission to work in Ireland when requested.
Failure to submit the required evidence, and failure to hold a valid permit/visa during the period of the contract, will result in the application and/or contract of employment being rendered void.
