The role
We are partnering with our client in Galway county to support them with hiringan experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join their R&D team. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of innovative, high-tech products from concept through to manufacture.Key ResponsibilitiesSupport new product development projects from initial concept through to production release.Develop mechanical designs, 3D CAD modelsand detailed manufacturing drawings.Build prototypes and support laboratory and field testing activities.Analyse test results and prepare technical reports and documentation.Collaborate with electrical, softwareand cross-functional engineering teams on system integration.Lead and contribute to design reviews and technical discussions.Apply design for manufacture (DFM) principles to ensure robust, cost-effective solutions.Manage project activities and deliverables in line with agreed timelines.Create and maintain engineering documentation in accordance with quality management procedures.Support continuous improvement initiatives and root cause investigationsRequirementsBachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.3+ years’ experience in a mechanical design or product development environment.Strong 3D CAD capability using software such as CREO, SolidWorks, or similar.Proven experience designing products for manufacture and assembly.Experience with prototype development, testing, and validation processes.Knowledge of DFMEA, risk assessment, and problem-solving methodologies would be advantageous.Experience with root cause analysis and corrective action processes.Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams.Project management experience would be beneficial.Experience within a high-volume manufacturing or technology-led environment is desirable.
