Plant Area Manager | County Carlow, Ireland

Are you an experienced horticulturist with a passion for retail and team management? This is a fantastic opportunity to join a successful, family-run Garden Centre as a plant area manager, based in the beautiful countryside of County Carlow.
Key responsibilities
Lead and inspire a team to deliver excellent customer service and expert plant advice
Oversee daily operations to ensure the plant area and wider shop floor are well-maintained, organised, and commercially focused
Manage stock, including ordering, goods-in, merchandising, pricing, and regular stocktakes
Support the DIY department, taking responsibility for its performance and presentation
Drive sales, implementing seasonal plans, promotions, and displays to maximise performance
Act as the main point of contact for customer enquiries, offering friendly, knowledgeable assistance
Track performance using budgets and sales data to make informed, commercial decisions
Ensure high standards in presentation, stock control, labelling, and health & safety compliance
Maintain plant quality through effective care, handling, and display
Stay informed on market trends to keep product ranges fresh and relevantWhat we're looking for
Experience in retail management, in a garden centre or horticultural setting
A horticultural qualification with strong plant knowledge and a passion for gardening
Confident leadership and people management skills with a focus on creating a positive workplace culture
Excellent organisational and communication skills
Customer-focused mindset with a hands-on, solutions-driven approach
Strong attention to detail across operations, plant care, and store standards
A full driving licence is preferred, as public transport does not run directly to the centreWhat's on offer
