Senior Electrical Engineer – Boston Scientific
Join Boston Scientific as a Senior Electrical Engineer. This permanent position offers the opportunity to develop cutting‑edge medical devices, lead electronic design teams, and mentor junior engineers.
Job Purpose
The candidate will contribute electronic engineering expertise to all stages of medical device development and sustaining engineering across multiple projects. Responsibilities include developing technological solutions, leading electronic development, and serving as the primary technical representative for the electronics team, presenting project updates to systems teams and senior management.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead electronics designs from concept to production.
* Serve as subject‑matter expert for design of external electrical medical equipment for new product development, sustaining engineering, and value‑improvement projects.
* Analyze and assess technical reports and other information to recommend electronic components and design approaches.
* Continuously improve processes and work methodologies via cross‑functional collaboration.
* Maintain commitment to patient safety and product quality, ensuring compliance with the Quality Policy and all documented quality processes.
* Provide technical support to technology and product development teams.
* Manage own time and prioritize tasks based on business priorities.
* Delegate tasks of larger projects to a development team.
* Provide technical mentorship to junior engineers.
Education & Experience
* Honors bachelor’s degree in electronics, computer engineering or equivalent.
* +5 years’ experience in the medical device industry or a similarly regulated field.
* Experience with international standards such as IEC 60601 and IEC 61000.
* Strong communication and time‑management abilities.
* Strong technical knowledge of electronic design, simulation, schematic capture, and PCB layout.
* Experience designing drive and control electronics for DC, stepper and BLDC motors.
* Lab skills and experience with debugging, prototyping, and test‑equipment setup for electronic designs.
* Experience designing to solve and mitigate EMC issues.
* Deep understanding of requirements‑adherence principles (product specifications, etc.).
* Prior experience working with external vendors.
Preferred Qualifications
* Master’s degree in a relevant field.
* Experience as a technical leader in multiple projects.
* Familiarity with design for manufacturing (DFM) and design for test (DFT).
