In this role, you will be at the forefront of ensuring the security and protection of our customers’ data. You will work closely with clients to understand their needs and implement effective data protection strategies. You will be dedicated to data governance, data security, and data protection, making it your mission to help safeguard our customers’ information. You will provide data security and governance advice and guidance to enterprise clients, as well as support product selections and project delivery.
Erg is expanding its data security and governance consultancy services division. We seek an enthusiastic individual who is passionate about data governance and security, with excellent commercial acumen.
This is a great opportunity to join a dynamic and growing Cyber Security team within Erg – Ireland's largest privately owned MSP. You will take ownership of the data governance and security team, with the potential to build a dedicated team of supporting personnel over time.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
1. Provide consultation to clients on their specific data security, protection, and compliance requirements.
2. Develop, implement, and maintain advanced data protection policies and procedures.
3. Review clients' existing data security posture and recommend strategic and tactical improvements.
4. Assess, prioritize, and mitigate data exposure and risks across enterprise environments.
5. Guide and support customers on data protection best practices.
6. Collaborate with internal teams to ensure compliance with data protection regulations.
7. Educate and train customers on data security measures to empower them to protect their data.
8. Stay informed about the latest data protection laws and technologies.
9. Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and stakeholders.
10. Operate autonomously while maintaining clear communication with internal and external stakeholders.
11. Collaborate with IT, compliance, risk, and legal teams.
12. Mentor junior security analysts and promote security awareness within the organization.
13. Present complex information confidently to senior leadership, auditors, and board members.
Education, Qualifications, and Skills
1. Proven track record (10+ years) in delivering data governance and security projects within highly regulated environments such as financial services.
2. Experience working directly with C-Level executives and providing consultancy at the highest levels.
3. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
5. Good commercial awareness.
6. Experience with DSPM and data products like Varonis, Microsoft Purview, Netwrix, Forcepoint, etc.
7. Technical proficiency in data protection technologies and tools.
Qualifications (Any of the following)
1. Bachelor’s degree in Information Security, Computer Science, or a related field.
2. Certifications such as CDPSE, CISSP, CISM, or GDPR Practitioner preferred.
3. ITIL Foundation certification is advantageous.
4. Strong understanding of data protection regulations like GDPR and CCPA.
5. Knowledge of security standards such as ISO27001.
