Clinical Nurse Manager 1 (Day Ward) Permanent Part- Time ( 34 hours per week)
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Clinical Nurse Manager 1 (Day Ward) to join the Bon Secours Health System Hospital Galway. Ireland's Largest Private Healthcare provider.
Job Purpose:
Responsible for the effective management of Day Ward, and the co-ordination of all nursing care activities to ensure and maintain a high standard of nursing care to patients.
Ideal Candidate:
Ensures that nursing care is carried out to the highest possible standard according to agreed policies and procedures.
Establishes and maintains good relationships with patients, their relatives and visitors. Treat patient/family with courtesy and respect. Develops and maintains good working relationships with medical staff for the effective care and treatment of patients.
Ensure the safe custody of controlled drugs and records are maintained and administered in a professional and competent manner in accordance with agreed policies. Administration of intravenous medications as required.
Roster will generally be over 5 days a week however a flexible approach to work patterns is required in line with service
Essential Qualifications:
The post holder must be qualified to a minimum level of RGN and have 3 years nursing experience
Relevant management qualification/experience required
The post holder will be expected to be flexible in their attitude to accommodate changes as necessary in providing continuity of patient care.
Experience & Responsibility:
Works with the CNM 11 in the overall management of their department including staff allocation, staff rotas, supervision, assessing workload, checking performance, communication, stock levels, staff adherence to policies etc.
Deputises for CNM 11 as required
In the absence of CNM 11 is responsible for administrative duties (Sister-in-charge) outside of office hours as agreed by Director of Nursing
Maintains a safe environment for patients, visitors and staff and ensures that safety measures are adhered to
Ensures high standards of cleanliness and hygiene are maintained by all staff and monitors infection control within the floor area. Ensure that all staff adhere to agreed dress code
Promote a partnership approach to patient care
Participate fully in promoting Best Practice, ensuring the delivery of quality patient care from admission to discharge while adhering to Accreditation standards and taking account of the specific needs of the individual patient
Documents and reports complaints/accidents/good catch to Best Practice Manager/Director of Nursing in accordance with hospital policy. Co-operate in managing all resources including nursing and non-nursing staff
Participate with CNM 11 in the development of departmental budgets, selection of equipment, recruitment of staff as required.
Participates in hospital committees as required
