The current salary scale for the position is €56,754 minimum to €69,337 inclusive of LSI’s.
Role
The Local Enterprise Offices (LEO) are the first stop shop for any small business looking to start or grow across the country. The vision for the Local Enterprise Office is to develop and sustain a positive enterprise ecosystem at local level throughout the country that will drive new added-value start-ups, facilitate further growth of micro and small businesses, and enhance local economies.
The Business Advisor position supports the delivery of an integrated range of actions and programmes to increase the number of first-time exporters, assist small businesses to innovate, embrace digital transformation, and adopt more environmentally friendly practices.
This is a key role requiring the successful candidate to work directly with core LEO clients to improve business management, introduce impactful innovation, enhance performance, and support start-ups and small businesses across the country to grow and create employment.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
The duties of the Business Advisor shall include:
* Facilitating, implementing, and promoting policies and objectives of Kilkenny County Council for the advancement of the Local Enterprise Office.
* Reporting to the Senior Enterprise Development Officer or any designated officer by the Chief Executive.
* Working with LEO clients, providing general business advice, supporting grant applications, managing Enterprise Ireland reporting, and grant administration.
* Managing initiatives to support microenterprises, including programmes like Digital Transformation and Green, to increase resilience and competitiveness, in compliance with public procurement guidelines.
* Supporting export activities of LEO clients, ensuring access to appropriate support based on their export stage.
* Administering training and management development programmes, including preparing specifications, processing tenders, client recruitment, and recording outputs within budgets.
* Managing external contractors and ensuring best practices in service delivery (e.g., mentoring support).
* Performing additional duties as assigned by the Head of the Local Enterprise Office to promote the office's objectives.
* Ensuring compliance with local authority financial, management, and governance reporting requirements.
* Collecting, maintaining, and updating relevant data.
