Let’s fix hospitality, for good.
Hospitality is tough – margins are thin, waste is high, and teams are stretched. But it doesn’t have to be this hard. That’s why we built Nory. Nory is an all‑knowing restaurant management system that blends real‑time data with AI predictive analytics, giving operators control of margins from food prep to forecasting, and helping restaurants run with consistency, certainty and profit.
Nory is built to turn messy operational restaurant data into a reliable source of truth used daily by multi‑site operators. Fresh off a Series B led by Kinnevik, we’ve grown to 80+ people across Ireland, the UK, Spain and New York – and demand is scaling faster than we ever imagined.
The role
We’re looking for an Engineering Team Lead to join our Inventory team. You’ll lead a squad responsible for building and scaling the inventory systems that underpin COGS, gross profit, financial reporting and automated ordering across Nory’s platform. This role is primarily a leadership position focused on enabling team success. Your performance will be measured by the outcomes your team delivers: product impact, engineering quality and the growth of the engineers you support.
You’ll set direction for the squad, coach engineers, and ensure strong execution across product and technical initiatives. While you’ll remain close to the technical work and may contribute to code when helpful, the role’s primary responsibility is to lead the team and ensure the squad consistently delivers high‑impact outcomes.
We’re stack‑agnostic in hiring and care most about strong engineering fundamentals and the ability to ramp quickly. Today our stack includes Python, FastAPI, React, TypeScript, Node.js, AWS (Fargate, Aurora, SQS), Postgres, MongoDB, and Docker.
What you’ll be doing
Lead a cross‑functional engineering squad, setting direction, enabling delivery, and ensuring the team ships reliable solutions that solve real operational problems.
Own team outcomes, ensuring your squad consistently delivers impactful work while maintaining strong engineering standards.
Develop engineers through coaching and feedback, helping them grow their technical and product capabilities.
Drive delivery discipline, ensuring the team prioritises effectively, manages scope and lands work reliably.
Partner closely with Product, Data, Design and Customer teams to shape solutions that balance correctness, usability and delivery speed.
Stay close to the technical work, guiding architecture, reviewing code and helping unblock engineers when needed.
Foster a healthy, high‑performing team culture with clear expectations, strong communication and accountability.
Complex problems we’ll tackle
Ensuring inventory data integrity across orders, invoices, stock counts, recipes, waste and supplier data.
Improving the accuracy of COGS and stock valuation, addressing challenges such as opening and closing stock alignment, VAT handling and supplier pricing logic.
Raising the reliability bar for financial systems, introducing patterns such as audit trails, immutable data models and locked stock periods.
Reducing operational overhead through automation and intelligent workflows, including confidence‑based routing and AI‑assisted processes.
Laying the foundations for explainable AI, enabling automated decisions to be traced, verified and trusted by customers and auditors.
What you’ll bring
Engineering leadership: You’ve led an engineering squad and take accountability for team outcomes, health and delivery.
Coaching and people development: You run structured 1:1s, give clear feedback and help engineers grow their technical and product capabilities.
Product‑focused delivery: You’ve delivered meaningful initiatives within a cross‑functional squad, producing measurable customer or commercial outcomes.
Strong product judgement: You work closely with Product to shape scope, make pragmatic trade‑offs and keep the team focused on impact.
Technical credibility: You’re an experienced engineer who can guide architectural decisions, review work and help unblock the team.
Systems thinking: You reason clearly about scale, reliability, data flow and long‑term maintainability as the product grows.
Clear communication: You bring structure to complex discussions and build alignment across engineering and non‑engineering stakeholders.
Nice to have
Experience building financial or inventory systems of record.
Experience working with high‑integrity operational or accounting data.
Exposure to automation, AI‑assisted workflows or ML‑driven decision systems.
Experience supporting enterprise customers with audit or compliance needs.
What you’ll get in return
Remote‑first working environment – you must have the right to work in the UK or EU.
Competitive salary depending on experience.
Meaningful equity – everyone at Nory is an owner.
35 days of paid leave per year, including bank holidays.
Comprehensive private health insurance via Irish Life (Ireland) and Axa (UK).
Enhanced parental leave and baby loss support.
Learning & development culture – €1000 personal annual budget plus quarterly book budget.
€250 home office workspace budget.
Regular team off‑sites and socials.
Work from anywhere for up to 3 months of the year.
Offices in London, Dublin or Spain.
And much more.
