Staff / Principal .NET Developer – FinTech | Cork | Hybrid | €100K+
We're partnering with a high-growth FinTech company in Cork that's backed by major investment and building the next generation of data-driven financial technology solutions.
They're looking to bring on two senior-level engineers (Staff / Principal) who can combine deep technical expertise with strong leadership. If you thrive in complex environments and love solving large-scale data and architectural challenges — this is for you.
MUST-HAVE (Non-Negotiable)
* 8+ years in software development
* 2+ years in a Team Lead or Technical Lead role
* Strong hands-on experience with Azure SQL Database (stored procedures, query tuning, performance optimization)
* Recent .NET development (.NET 6/7/8 preferred, .NET Core minimum)
* Experience with database-to-API migrations – moving business logic to the application layer
* Worked with large-scale data systems processing millions of records
Leadership Experience
* Managed or led teams of 4+ developers
* Proven track record mentoring developers (specific examples or references available)
* Delivered results under pressure (tight deadlines, shifting priorities, tech debt)
* Successfully joined mid-project and taken over existing codebases or teams
Soft Skills
* Excellent communicator – able to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
* Confident decision-maker even without perfect information
HIGHLY DESIRABLE
* Background in Financial Services / FinTech / Banking / Payments / Lending
* Prior Irish employment experience – familiar with local work culture and regulations
* Azure DevOps / CI-CD pipelines experience
* Strong understanding of Agile delivery (Scrum, Kanban, iterative models)
* Proven performance optimization across applications or databases
* Experience modernizing or refactoring legacy systems
* Exposure to regulated or compliance-heavy environments (data governance focus)
NICE-TO-HAVE (Bonus Points)
* Azure SQL Elastic Pool experience
* Exposure to Pyramid Analytics or similar BI tools
* Experience with Identity Server / OAuth / Authentication
* Partitioning strategies for large tables
* C# and Entity Framework proficiency
* Financial data modeling experience
