Overview
We are currently seeking a Concrete Plant Batching Operative to join our team at Clashmore Quarry. As a Concrete Plant Batching Operative, you will be primarily responsible for the safe loading of lorries and stockpile.
Responsibilities
Operate concrete batching plant – producing all types of ready‑mix concrete in a safe and efficient manner to specification.
Follow all company Safety, Health and Environmental procedures and policy.
Take orders and arrange the loads for the day.
Liaise between central shipping and mixer haulage regarding deliveries and load sequencing.
Manage raw material stocks and ensure adequate stocks in place for work in hand: Cement, Sand, aggregates and admixtures.
Ensure plant is properly cleaned out after every shift – ready for new shift.
Ensure all safety specific equipment is maintained and operational, particularly isolation and lockouts, captive keys and plant guarding.
Ensure plant maintains all QSRMC standards – records and actions.
Carry out regular recorded plant maintenance and safety inspections – organise preventative maintenance and report any maintenance or safety issues to management.
Maintain and regularly check calibrations – servicing and identifying potential issues.
Assist management in scheduling planned and routine maintenance/servicing.
Issue purchase orders for issue or approval for goods or services required for your plant – following company purchasing procedure.
Take active role in plant audits – quality, safety and environmental with internal and external bodies.
Assist in safe management of employees and subcontractors – inductions, issuing safe systems of work and risk assessment to relevant authorised contractors.
Follow all company policy and procedures and maintain accurate documentation relating to stock control and inspections.

To undertake any other reasonable duties as necessitated by your function.
Qualifications
Previous experience batching concrete in wet mix plant and/or dry batch plant.
Proven experience in concrete types, specifications and uses.
Knowledge, understanding and experience of managing plant, tools, equipment and machinery – maintenance procedures / inspection.
Experience of concrete mixer trucks.
Driving licence to enable the post holder to fulfil the duties of the role.
Experience of stock control and ordering.
