Assistant General Manager

We are seeking an experienced, motivated Assistant General Manager to join the management team at The Brass Fox. This is a key leadership role, supporting the General Manager in the day-to-day running of a busy, high-quality pub with food, events, and private functions.
This role suits someone who thrives on the floor, leads from the front, and takes real ownership of standards, people, and performance.
The Role
As Assistant General Manager, you will be heavily involved in daily operations while also contributing to planning, staff development, stock control, and service excellence. You will be trusted to run shifts independently and act as Manager on Duty when required.
Key Responsibilities
Operations & Service
* Lead service during busy periods, ensuring excellent customer experience
* Act as Manager on Duty, overseeing floor, bar, and kitchen coordination
* Maintain high standards of service, cleanliness, and presentation
* Handle customer queries and complaints professionally and confidently
People Management
* Support recruitment, training, and onboarding of new staff
* Motivate, coach, and manage team performance
* Assist with rosters, appraisals and disciplinary procedures
* Foster a positive, professional, and respectful workplace culture
Stock, Cash & Compliance
* Assist with stock ordering, stocktakes, and GP control
* Ensure correct cash handling procedures are followed
* Support compliance with health & safety, HACCP, and licensing laws
* Ensure all legal and company policies are adhered to at all times
Business Support
* Work closely with the General Manager to hit sales and margin targets
* Assist in planning events, promotions, and busy trading periods
* Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and profitability
* Step in to cover the General Manager when required
What We're Looking For
* Previous experience as a supervisor, duty manager, or assistant manager in hospitality
* Strong leadership and communication skills
* Excellent operational knowledge of bar and food service
* Ability to remain calm and decisive under pressure
* High standards and attention to detail
* Flexible availability, including evenings and weekends
