Job Opportunity: Cost Accountant
We are working with a leading producer of various vegetable-based chilled convenience foods, supplying major supermarket multiples in Ireland. They are seeking to hire an experienced Cost Accountant responsible for all costings and product analysis onsite.
The successful candidate will be proactive with a can-do attitude, spending up to 40% of their time on the factory floor gathering data and working with production teams to identify cost centres. The remaining time will focus on calculating, analysing, and reporting product and process costings.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Partner with the Managing Director, Finance Director, and leadership team to support daily operations and inform decisions through financial analysis on capital investments, cost savings, and innovation.
2. Work closely with operations to identify performance improvements and cost-saving initiatives, while enhancing KPI reporting to drive factory efficiency.
3. Analyse and report on manufacturing performance and efficiency, and develop detailed line and product efficiency models.
4. Take ownership of product costing and gross margin (GM) analysis by SKU, including clarity of Bills of Materials and delivering regular GM reports with recommendations for improvement.
5. Support new product costing, CAPEX evaluations, and project initiatives, collaborating with Commercial and Finance Directors.
6. Carry out key reporting duties including price file maintenance, process and promotional costing, labour and overhead analysis, and review of systems and reports to drive best practices.
Key Requirements:
* Minimum of 3 years' experience in Financial Planning, Accounting, or Cost Accounting within an FMCG environment.
* Proven ability to assess and implement new systems and software to drive improvements.
* Advanced financial analysis skills, including variance analysis, forecasting, and financial modelling, with hands-on experience in an industry setting.
* Excellent Excel proficiency (VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables, advanced charting, simulations, databases), strong numerical skills, and keen attention to detail.
* Fluent in written and spoken English, with excellent time management, problem-solving, and interpersonal communication skills.
* Desirable: experience with data analysis tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Qlik Sense, SQL), a degree in Accounting (ACCA/ACA), Finance, or Food Science, and background in FMCG or food manufacturing.
