About The IRC
Huawei Ireland Research Centre's (IRC) mission is to position Huawei as a recognized technology leader and global information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider. We are building an industry-recognized multi-disciplinary Research Centre of experts focusing on medium-term to long-term issues to achieve this. The IRC will work closely with an open, innovative ecosystem with Huawei customers to address real-world issues. The IRC will also engage with key European universities to build a basic research capability to support Huawei technical projects.
About The Role
The cloud provides flexible and low-cost IT resources across the Internet. As more cloud providers seek to drive greater business outcomes and the environments of the cloud become more complicated, it is evident that the era of intelligent cloud has arrived. Recent advancements in Machine Learning and AI such as Large Language Model, Deep Learning holds the promise for solving some of the most complex challenges in cloud management that were not possible before. To name a few, proactive anomaly detection, dynamic and intelligent resource allocation, intelligent fault diagnosis and network demand prediction are among the challenging problems in this space.
Huawei Ireland Research Centre is expanding an LLM research team that will focus on research and developing AI algorithms for cutting-edge advancements in LLM and Agents, with a focus on domain-specific foundation models, multi agent and web agent systems tailored to Huawei Consumer Cloud services. Key application areas include smart health, data, infrastructure and advertising operations, etc.
The Ireland-based research team will work closely with the Huawei Consumer Business Group (CBG) in the Headquarters, CBG covers smartphones, PC and tablets, wearables, mobile broadband device, family device and device cloud service, and is the second largest smartphone manufacturer in the world. Huawei Consumer BG is dedicated to delivering the latest technologies to consumers and sharing the happiness of technological advances with more people around the world. Key Responsibilities
* Identify state-of-the-art AI and foundation model technologies (both in industry and academic literature) for solving problems in healthcare and IT operations.
* Demonstrate the ability to independently conduct research, development, and deployment.
* Contribute to the rapid and iterative development of validated software prototypes or models based on AI technologies, and benchmark alternative solutions.
* Collaborate closely with domain experts, data engineers, and AI researchers. Work with product development teams and business partners to productionize AI technologies, including delivering source code and design documentation.
* Publish papers in leading conferences or journals.
Qualifications
* PhD in Artificial Intelligence or Machine Learning and/or Natural Language Processing.
* Strong hands-on experience with large language model and foundation model development. Experience with foundation models for time series, wearable data, healthcare data is desirable.
* Strong programming skills in Python.
* Full-Cycle Ownership: Demonstrated ability to independently research, develop, and deploy projects from concept to production prototype.
* Publication track records in machine learning and computer science conferences and journals, including ICML, ECML, NIPS, AAAI, ACL is a plus.
