Job Overview

The Strategic Grid Manager role plays a pivotal part in the organisation's drive to succeed in the renewable energy landscape.

This leadership position will spearhead integrated technology and infrastructure initiatives, ensuring strategic alignment and optimum approaches are pursued.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Develop a comprehensive grid plan that aligns with national energy policies and industry standards, ensuring future readiness and scalability.
2. Collaborate closely with colleagues in Engineering, Grid, Planning and Investment teams to ensure infrastructure plans are achievable and aligned with the company's strategic vision.
3. Maintain strong relationships with government agencies, regulatory bodies, industry partners, and other stakeholders to foster collaboration and support for infrastructure projects.
4. Work with EirGrid, CRU, GNI, Uisce Eireann and key stakeholders to agree on infrastructure requirements, timelines, and investment strategies.
5. Lead management of partnerships or key stakeholders in key infrastructure development segments.
6. Represent the organisation in public consultations, forums, and industry events, effectively communicating the company's strategic vision and objectives.
7. Develop a roadmap for infrastructure deployment and investments that supports sustainable growth and operational efficiency, working with the Finance team to ensure the plan is deliverable.
8. Manage contractual negotiations to ensure optimum outcomes for the business, ensuring timely completion and execution of contracts and agreements meet the company's strategy and objectives.
9. Liaise with the BnM legal department to drive contractual workstreams to successful conclusion.
10. Collaborate with the wider Market Investment, Finance and Engineering teams to ensure robust investment cases for projects including strategic infrastructure elements.
11. Collaborate with colleagues to update the long-term financial and strategic plan for the company, ensuring coordinated efforts achieve business objectives.
12. Develop a team of project management and technology professionals, fostering a culture of innovation and high performance.
13. Lead cross-departmental projects and initiatives to drive alignment and achieve business goals.
14. Facilitate knowledge sharing and professional development within the team to enhance expertise.

Proactively participate in the Performance Management process to ensure delivery of own, and the wider team's objectives.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

15. Third-level degree in Engineering, Business, Project Management, or a related discipline.
16. Minimum 10 years experience in energy or large-scale infrastructure projects.
17. Proven track record managing large-scale projects and ownership of project or process delivery.
18. Strong technical understanding of electricity transmission grid planning, development, and operation.
19. Familiarity with regulatory, grid, and planning frameworks relevant to energy infrastructure in Ireland.
20. Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage stakeholder relationships, and deliver projects in complex, multi-stakeholder environments.
21. Experience collaborating with key stakeholders and regulatory bodies.
22. Professional project management certification (e.g., PMP or equivalent) is desirable.
23. Strong commercial acumen with experience in budget control, procurement, contract management and negotiation, and resource optimisation.
24. Highly adaptable and innovative with strong problem-solving skills.
25. Experience in sectors such as Renewable Energy, Power Generation, Technology, or Grid Infrastructure.
26. Postgraduate qualification in Engineering, Management, or Commercial disciplines is advantageous.
