CSSD Technician - UPMC Sports Surgery Clinic DublinLocation: UPMC Sports Surgery Clinic, Santry, Dublin 9.Job type: 6-month Fixed-term Full-time Contract of EmploymentOverview of role: To assist in the production of sterilized medical devices for use in allclinical and other areas designated by the Clinic.Primary Duties and Responsibilities: Collecting used items: where alternative arrangements are in place these will continue to apply, as appropriate.Cleaning of trolleys and storage shelves, the steam autoclave and all other equipment within the department.Decontaminate, inspect, assemble, package, sterilize and distribute surgical instruments and applicable patient care equipment according to departmental and international standards.Packing – making up of requisite packs for theatres, wards and other departments.Sterilizing and issuing goods.Stocking shelves of sterile supplies, non-sterile disposable items and assisting with stock control and requisitioning.Maintenance of records, where appropriate, in line with departmental policy.Recording of relevant data in the computer or appropriate log books with full clear signature.Decontamination of used devices using mechanical and manual methods.Inspection and function testing of devices. Any discrepancies or faults to be reported immediately to the Manager/ Supervisor.Loading and unloading of disinfection/sterilizing equipment.Handling and storage of raw material components.Taking, recording and delivering phone messages as required.Operation of mechanical processing equipment including washer disinfectors, ultrasonic cleaners and sterilizers.Organize workload to ensure services are maintained and correct standards are adhered to at all times.Assist in the training of new staff members.Ensure to keep up to date with new practices regarding the Department.Ensure correct policies & procedures are maintained at all times.Stock rotation is done every day.Ensure daily checks on autoclaves and washer disinfectors are done before the machines are used as per HSE Code of practice Decontamination and EN Standards.Staff will rotate through each area of the department as defined by local Management.To ensure and maintain a clean and dust-free environment at all times.Recognizing and dealing with urgent items that may be required from time to time.Perform on-call and in-charge duties and act as the designated "in-charge" person on a rotating basis according to the weekly roster, handling unexpected situations and providing guidance to staff.
