Senior Health and Safety Officer An experienced Senior Health and Safety Officer is required to join a leading civil engineering contractor working on a major infrastructure project in Cork. This is a permanent position offering the opportunity to take a lead role in maintaining high safety standards on a complex, high-value project. The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing safety procedures, conducting audits, and promoting a proactive safety culture on site. Key Responsibilities: Support the project team by developing and maintaining health and safety systems in line with current legislation and company policies. As Senior Health and Safety Officer, carry out regular site inspections, audits, and risk assessments, ensuring all works comply with legal and regulatory standards. Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses thoroughly, ensuring that root causes are identified and corrective actions implemented. Deliver toolbox talks, site inductions, and safety briefings to workers and subcontractors. Liaise closely with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to address safety concerns and ensure consistent standards across the site. Champion continuous improvement and behavioral safety initiatives as the Senior Health and Safety Officer on site. Requirements: 5+ years of experience working as a Senior Health and Safety Officer or in a similar senior-level safety role within civil engineering or construction. NEBOSH/IOSH Diploma or equivalent recognised Health and Safety qualification. Strong knowledge of Irish health and safety legislation and construction industry practices. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and digital safety tools for documentation and reporting. Excellent communication, reporting, and organisational skills. Full clean driving licence and legal right to work in Ireland (ROI).
