Position Summary:
The position of Automation Engineer would suit a motivated, practical and adaptable individual who has the ambition to gain Chartered Engineer status and wishes to work in a progressive and innovative consultancy design office. The post holder will work in a multi-disciplinary engineering team to deliver projects within the broad industrial and pharmaceutical sectors.
The design work will predominantly be in the Automation discipline, but may include support of other disciplines including Process, Electrical and Instrumentation. Due to the varied nature of the projects worked on in the office, opportunities may arise for site-based C&Q roles and travel abroad. Although the role is primarily office based, some site-based work may be required from time to time.
Key Responsibilities:
* Development of Control System Concept / Automation Philosophies
* Design of Control System Architecture drawings
* Coordination and/or alignment of Process, Instrumentation and Automation design development
* Automation Specification and Support of Vendor Package Equipment
* Generation of Control System Technical Specifications / User Requirements
* Tender of Bespoke / Stick-Build Automation Packages, including Technical Bid Analysis
* Generation and/or review of Process Automation Descriptions
* Management of Automation Life-Cycles for Bespoke / Stick-Build Automation Packages
* Factory Acceptance Testing of Bespoke / Stick-Build Automation Packages
* Commissioning & Qualification (C&Q)
* Peer-reviews of 3rd party Automation Designs
Education & Experience:
* Degree Qualified Engineer – Automation / Electrical / Electronic, or equivalent
* System Integration experience preferred – PLC, DCS process automation
Essential skills:
* Computer literate – proficient in MS-Office (Word, Excel, etc.)
* Familiarization with GAMP, 21 CFR Part 11, ISA standards (S88, S95, S99)
* Team player, adaptable, & self-motivating
* Excellent interpersonal, organisational and communication skills
* Strong attention to detail
* Ability to work well on own initiative
