Position Title: Sr. Principal Engineer - Maintenance & Reliability (Mechanical)
Reporting To: Associate Director - SM Maintenance
Main Purpose and Objectives of the Position:
The primary responsibilities of the Mechanical Engineer in Maintenance & Reliability are to provide support, direction, and expertise on mechanical issues, review equipment performance to prevent reliability issues, and implement monitoring programs to maximize equipment availability. The engineer also selects equipment for new and re-capitalizing projects and assesses spare parts requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide engineering support to maintenance teams and equipment owners.
2. Ensure maintenance programs support reliable equipment operation.
3. Train maintenance personnel on new equipment, methods, and techniques.
4. Follow up on issues identified through maintenance or equipment owner reports.
5. Participate in, investigate, and complete HSE & Quality observations and deviations.
6. Align local maintenance procedures with Global Engineering Standards and Best Practices.
7. Ensure Job Plans, data sheets, and data loaders for the CMMS are accurate and detailed.
8. Provide metallurgical expertise and understanding of materials compatibility when needed.
9. Lead reliability improvements, identify obsolescence, and support planned replacements.
10. Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance maintenance reliability.
11. Analyze predictive and condition-based monitoring data to prioritize follow-up actions.
12. Develop and review Mechanical Specifications and SOPs as SME.
13. Review critical stores and inventory levels.
14. Conduct internal audits and periodic reviews to ensure GMP compliance.
Educational Requirements:
Level 8 Degree in Mechanical Engineering or above, or equivalent.
Personal Considerations:
Occasional calls outside normal hours, site visits, and travel for conferences or training may be required.
Language Requirements:
Proficient in English.
