About the role
We are seeking highly skilled Senior Project Mechanical and Electrical Design Engineers to join a leading Data Centre design team. With 10+ years' experience, you will lead the design and delivery of critical building services systems for major technology clients across the EMEA region.
As a senior member of the team, you will take responsibility for projects from
concept design through to handover, ensuring technical excellence, programme delivery, and strong client relationships. You will mentor junior and intermediate engineers, maintain quality standards, and represent the design team confidently in meetings with clients and stakeholders.
About you
* 10+ years' experience in mechanical or electrical building services design, preferably within the data centre sector
* Degree qualified; Chartered status an advantage
* Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing/drainage, and building controls (mechanical) OR in-depth knowledge of power distribution (LV/MV), UPS/generator integration, and lighting systems (electrical)
* Familiarity with relevant standards (ETCI, CIBSE, IEC, BS, IS, EN)
* Software knowledge: Revit, AutoCAD, Dialux, Amtech (as applicable)
* Proven ability to lead projects from initial brief to completion, balancing multiple deliverables and deadlines
* Excellent report writing and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex engineering issues clearly
* Experience mentoring and developing junior engineers
Key responsibilities
* Lead the design and specification of mechanical and/or electrical building services
for large-scale data centre projects
* Manage project delivery across the full lifecycle: concept, design, tender, construction, and client handover
* Produce and review drawings, schematics, tender packages, budgets, and reports
* Ensure all deliverables meet established quality standards and project deadlines
* Represent the design team in client and stakeholder meetings, building long-term trusted relationships
* Guide and mentor junior engineers, supporting their technical and professional development
* Engage in resource management and report progress to senior management
* Provide technical leadership, ensuring compliance with contract terms and industry standards
* Support the ongoing development of design standards across mechanical and electrical disciplines
